  1. Same problem as CrazyF here. In MIOS Studio I do receive the messages from the core every 2 seconds. When I try to program MIOS to the PIC using MIOS Studio, I get the same error as CrazyF. I did all the voltage-checks before inserting the IC's, they all worked out fine. I tested the Midi-out of my PC, it works too (tested it with the LED method). I unplugged the optocoupler, and tested it as shown in the troubleshooting: works like a charm. The diode is working, and inserted correctly. So no polarity problems whatsoever. Then I checked the soldering of the IC-Socket for the optocoupler, but that is fine as well. Still, all tests 'after' the optocoupler fail, such as: optocoupler pin 6 + PIC Vss fails, and so does PIC RX + PIC Vss. Obviously, optocoupler pin 8 + PIC Vss (pin 31) works. So now I'm guessing that perhaps the midi-signal coming from my PC is to weak to activate the optocoupler. Is that possible, or does anyone have a suggestion what could be the problem? EDIT: After giving it some thought, the idea landed that perhaps a resistor could be the cause of the problem (because the optocoupler worked fine in the standalone test). So I checked the soldering of the resistors, and I found one that wasn't connected very well. After resoldering it, programming worked perfectly. So there is no need to answer my question anymore. I will leave the post though, perhaps someone else may find it usefull.
