  1. Hello everyone,

I thought I would have time for some midibox projects but I am a new father and grossly overestimated my free time! So I have a bunch of stuff to unload.

NOTE: I have removed items that have been sold.

1 x Commodore 64 with SID 6581 chip and Commodore Power Supply $20

    1 x Commodore power supply $5

    2 x SID8580 $20 each

    Kits from SmashTV:

    1 x SID kit $9

I prefer payment by PayPal and will work out shipping individually. (I can probably pay the shipping as long as it is reasonable.)

    Cheers - Jason

  2. Hello,

I have one of the CORE_R4D PCB's from SMASH TV. I am confused about one thing.

Some of the jumper connector pads on the PCB have more holes than are needed for that jumper. For example, J10 is only 8 jumpers but there are 10 holes? Can I just not solder pins there or is there a reason for the extra holes?

    Thanks

  3. Hello,

I am going to start my first SID project this summer. ;D I want to build two of what I am calling the "A-SID Bassline", the DIY 303!! Basically my plan is to make each with a CORE module, a SID module, a DIN4 module and to use a 20x40 LCD, 20(or so) buttons, 9 rotary encoders, and a bunch of LED's. I am using SID8580's and also have two CEM3378 filters that I will incorporate by building AOUT LC modules.

I noticed in the Complete Control Surface (Step C) documentation that DOUT modules are called for and I am wondering what signals these are used for?

Also wondering about the AOUT LC module's resolution. It says in the documetation that for MIDIBox SID to use 12 bits for filter and only 4 for resonance. As I am planning to make 303'ish bassline SIDs I am wondering if 4 bits of resolution for resonance will be enough.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers - Jason

  4. Hi,

I am about to build my first SID module and CORE module. I am looking around for an LCD display and thinking of the future. What are peoples size recommendations regarding displays? I am thinking of making a SID that will mostly be for 303 type playing.

Would it be advantageous to have a longer LCD?(2x40)

Or would it be better to have a taller LCD?(4x20)

How much difficulty does it create by using displays that are different from the recommended 2x20?

Thanks so much for your input.

    - J

  5. HI,

I just watched this video of a MidiBox SID on YouTube:

Are all 4 SID chips working together to create one sound?

Can I expect such great sound from one chip?

Mostly I want to know how many SID chips I need to get that great 303 sound!!

So excited to have discovered this site. Now if I could just get me some 8580's....
