  1. Hi there!

Since I haven't got the time to play around with it, and it has been sitting there pretty much unused since I built it,

I want someone else to enjoy this fabolous thing!

    So:

100% complete MB-6582 (see attached pictures for colors) including 8x6582 chips (new old-stock) which is already in the unit.

I also have an original C64 PSU which can be included if the buyer wants it - please note that this is the 230V european version!

This is the result of the first batch-orders of PCB's and panels.

I've put a lot of time into building and gathering the parts for this thing, so asking price is 6500 NOK (PayPal prefferable) incl. worldwide shipping.

Unit is working 100% without any noticable problems, but is sold as is, and are located in Oslo, Norway if there are any locals...

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Lars

    1x 8580R5B

    2x 6581R4AR

    2x 6581R3

    6x 6581

It's been a while since they were tested, but everything were OK then,

and they have been kept in tubes in room-temperature since.

    They are sold as is.

I preffer PayPal, and will ship fast.

  3. Ooooh another Norwegian midiboxer! Can I ask where u are located? It would be too bad if there were others than me in the area owning a sid synth hehehe... Nah, what I meant to say is that it would be bad having midiboxers around the door and not knowing hehe. But then again, Norway are a long stretched country...

    Sorry, totally off topic... Hehe

Hey technobreath - I'm located in Oslo, so it's not next door ;)

    ------------

florian gaud - They are available...send bid trough PM please. :)

  4. Hey all!

I've gathered it all now, and here's what's included:

    1x Casing (PT-10 from PacTec)

    2x PCB (1x control and 1x main)

2x Aluminium cutouts, black with white writing (front and back-panel)

    4x PICs - preprogrammed for the MB-6582

    8x 6582A SID's, NewOld-stock

    Rotary encoders with black/white Waldorf-knobs

    feedback-pots with knobs

fan (with blue light if I remember correctly ;) )

    tactical switches

    LCD-display

DIN-contact to fit on the board (new and solid male-DIN included to fit to the PSU).

a BUNCH of other components which whould make it a 98-100% complete build out of the box

There's also included a lot of spacers, nuts, bolts, washers etc - much more then you need, but they didn't come in smaller packages ;)

Like stated before - PSU not included.

I'm not after making any money here, but I would like to break even.

If #1 in line doesn't accept, I will proceed down the que until someone does...

Everything is sold as is, but has been kept in room-temperature the whole time.

Please note that stuff aren't cheap in Norway - probably also including the shipping - so the price may seem high to some of you...

If I end up shipping outside of Norway, payment must be made trough PayPal in NOK.

Asking price is: 5000 NOK + shipping

After this, I also have some SID's left over:

    tested:

4x 6582A (new-old-stock - will most likely keep at least two of these for my own MB-6582)

    not tested:

    6x 6581

    2x 6581R3

    2x 6581R4AR

    5x 8580R5

    1x 8580R5B

20 in total - also sold as is. Not saying any asking-price, but I'm still not looking to make money, so please send bids as PM if you are interested.

mrcam - I pass the ball to you for a reply if you are still interested...

  5. hey guys!

the info/sale is a little postponed...

My parents has been placing the box on the attic after they cleaned it up, so it's... well... somewhere up there...

I'm not at their house everyday, so I don't know how fast I'll be able to pick it up...

So bottom line is I'll make a new post here as soon as I've gotten the hold of it.

But I KNOW it's up there, and I WILL sell it, so please just be patient, and I will make a new post here as soon as I have new info,

which should be within a couple of weeks I believe. :)

  6. Great! :)

I'll check out the parts during the weekend and will post a reply here, but from what I remember, it's identical to Wilba's original

model (with waldorf-knobs, feedback pots etc..)

The SID's included are 8x 6582, but I can't remember if it's the A-model or not - will check this as well.

  7. Hi!

When Wilba made the original batch-order for these babies, I ordered two sets (one for a friend), but he didn't want it after all. (yeah, I know... :/ )

So I basically have parts to build another one, which I'm interested in selling.

It should be 99-100% complete (there may be a resistor or two is missing, but nothing that's hard to get the hold of..)

It comes with the new-old-stock SID's, but no PSU.

Casing, PCB, 8xSID's, PIC's and everything is included.

Sold as is - but parts has been stored in room-temperature.

So first - Thorsten (and perhaps Wilba) - is it OK to sell this?

Wanted to go trough you guys first to see if anyone's interested before I post it elsewhere.

I'm located in Oslo, Norway, but will ship internationally.

  8. ok, it worked on the other system running Pro Tools.

I also tried with Logic on that computer, and that also worked. But somehow, the connections aren't named the same. (Port 3 (Control) worked in PT, and Port 1 worked in Logic, without changing any wiring. Port 1 is normally an in-port on the 003R).

On the interface I plan on using (I have a 002R, but it's SO DAMN HEAVY!! :P), I only have one input and one output. But what if those are changed too? I only get one instance of my card, so it must be my input and output that is mixed up... I can't think of anything else. I'll try with a midi-monitor to see what happens after lunch...

  9. hehe... it's not a dumb question :P

but yes, I have checked the channels. I tried sending the MIDI globally, on all outputs, and all channels.

The first pair of SIDs on the MB-6582 should recieve on ch.1.

If I connect a controller directly, I can only get it to play if the SID is set to ch.1

(I guess I can change on the controller to mach, though...)

I will try on a different system now and make an update..

  10. no, that is not a joke ;)

ok, I uploaded the firmare a while back, and everything seemed ok.

I don't remember if I tried running any sounds from an external sequencer or not at the time, but like now - if I connect a keyboard, it plays perfectly. But if I try to connect it to a MIDI interface (the same one I used to upload the firmware), it doesn't respond to MIDI-data at all. I tried playing notes, and program changes from the programs mentioned above.

So that's why I think it's weird... If it recieves midi from a sequencer, it doesn i't work, but when I play on it directly from a controller (USB MIDI-keyboard, or a synth etc.), it plays, and changes program number...

Sorry for the bad info... Please let me know if there are anything else you need to know..

I am at the moment running SIDv2RC17 (I know it's not the newest, but I'll try an update later today if I still can't get it to play from a sequencer).

  11. Hi!

My MB-6582 are unable to recieve MIDI from any sequencer.

It plays perfectly when I try to run the MIDI-cable directly from a controller, but it won't play

from any software. Is there anything I need to enable on the MB-6582?

I've tried running MIDI from Logic 8, Sibelius and Live, and will try from Pro Tools trough my Digidesign card later today. (tried running trough a MIDI-controller and a TerraTec card without success)

Fast help is much wanted, cause I plan to use it on my keyboard-exam on friday :P

  12. hey all! :)

Just finished my 6582 today (yay! :D)

allthough, I found another bug on the base PCB.

as mentioned, you need to solder a bridge between pin 9 and 12 at J15.

This connects +5V to the backlight, but I also had to solder a bridge between pin 10 and 11 (GND) to make it work.

Wilba, can you check if this is just something I had to do, or if it is an error?

Anyway, I love how it has turned out, and I will post pictures if anyone's interested(?) :)

    Lars

  13. Hi!

I was minding my own business the other day, when I saw that my PSU for my external LaCie HDD had a plug with 4 pins. Turns out it delivers 12V and 5V (2A on each, so that's enough..)

Anyway, these PSU's are available online for $20 (see link)

    http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10735

So I was wondering if they could be a good alternative to the original C64 PSU?

I'm probably going to just use 6582's or 8580's in the second MB-6582 I'm building, so if anyone could confirm this and help me with the internal PSU for the MB-6582 (Wilba?) to make it work, I'd be happy to try it out!

Might also be a great PSU for future 6582 builders!

The size is like a normal laptop-PSU, so it would be pretty neat!

Will probably last a lot longer then the C64 one too.

The plug could of course be changed to a 7-pin DIN (I could get one at a local store since I allready have the 7-pin PCB mount plug) - or something else.

    Any thoughts? :)

  14. Since it takes a lot of time to put this kits together, you will get an email from smash when your kits are ready.

The email contains information on how to order them. (sub-page in his shop with a special order-code for verification)

I believe this thread only applies to the people that allready have the PCB's from the original bulk-order, and there only

exsists a BASE PCB parts kit per date.

After all the part kits for the base pcb has gone out, he will probably concider making a CS PCB parts kit.

Be patient - it takes a lot of time to gather all the parts!

Finally, the PCB's (then - 2nd edition) + probably part kits will be available in his shop.

My advice: If you don't have the PCB's from the original bulk-order, you might as well wait until it becomes available

in his shop (allthough, there are nice to see that there are so many interested in building the MB-6582).

Be patient - this takes a lot of time! ;)

  15. Hi!

I'm building two 6582's (one for my teacher, and one for me), and I'm probably interested in getting one of the panel sets re-screened.

Since I'm almost at the CS-stage, I will probably finish the first one with the "old" screening, and use the new and hopefully better screening for my self ;)

Thanks a lot for this, a great initiative! :)
