Phasmatis

I have an old AdLib sound card based on the Yamaha YM3812, a.k.a. OPL2. My question is, could the OPL2 be used in place of the OPL3 in the MIdibox FM? Datasheets, in case you need them: http://www.oplx.com/opl3/docs/ymf262.pdf http://www.datasheet4u.com/download.php?id=285414 (http://www.datasheet4u.com/html/Y/M/3/YM3812_ETC.pdf.html) Their connections look similar, and the OPL3 is supposedly backward-compatible. But does the Midibox FM use stereo sound, or anything else the OPl2 doesn't have?
