  1. Thanks! This is also extremely useful in modular synths, at least one I'm working upon...the Buchla 281 quad envelopes also start as linear and expect external trimming/feedback to wrangle them into different shapes, so they're useful right there...why use a non-Buchla VCA? Because you always run out of VCAs. At least I do. And, the SSM will have more dynamic range a bit bit more attack tightness...useful as an option... And, I'm hoping that they're very useful as modulation controllers. Use the mod wheel or velocity etc. to control the amount of a DC signal such as an LFO, etc.

    Brilliant!

  2. I still have a 2nd SSM2044 bulk order to do (approx. 400 chips) which was delayed for a while, then another 6582A SID MEGASALE #7 which might happen before I do this SEQ PCB and parts bulk order.

Pardon the hijack, but I appear to have missed the first 2044 bulk order (I was certain that I was on the list). The number I wanted has changed to 3, however, and I don't need them right now...thanks for any heads-up, I know that you are doing an overwhelming amount of work for the community!!!

  3. Mind you- I have a 4620 but need one with the SEQ V3.x code in it...I'll take it that this hasn't escaped you, as most here are sharper than I am...

In gratitude, I'd like to offer the Smash TV 4620 that I have, ID listed above, to anyone who can use it. First PM'd, first served; I'll just mail it off, no charge, in forward payment for Wilba's good deed, if he refuses proper reimbursement.

I'll still be looking for a (452?) with the CV code...so the SSM board offer still stands in exchange for one MIOS'd with this OS. And when I get that, I'lll ship out the PIC that's been waiting for it for free as well.

  4. Wilba has ever so kindly provided a service free of charge, so I'm paying it forward:

    1) recent Smash TV 4620 PIC, ID 0010 0000, no OS, for free.

    1) recent Smash TV 452 PIC, ID 0010 0000, no OS, for free.

    First PM is first served.

    Original post:

Hi, it looks like I'm never going to be able to get access to a computer that can run MIOS. I'm looking to trade a pair of dual SSM MIDIbox boards for a 4620 loaded with the latest SEQ software...ID 0010 0000. I have one here but no way to complete it. Same with a PIC for a MIDIbox CV. I suppose that I could mail them to anyone who would burn them, but would prefer to simply sell them and trade the PCBs for one complete SEQ Pic (and work something out for a CV Pic).

The "builds" I'm after are "standard"- what TK uses for his SEQ, and the standard CV setup with what is it, five or so buttons and one pot? Apologies, it's not in front of me. Unprofessional, sorry. I have an Ultracore ready to go, and could complete a CV most quickly.

I'm sorry to have to miss out on this aspect of the MB world but I'm just not going to upgrade from the old, stable OS and the software that is working...no budget for new OS or software if I wanted...

I also have a bunch of 20-pin IC sockets and 9 quantity 28 pin wide/open center SID sockets if any amount of these might help spice a deal. Thanks for reading, thanks even more for helping.

  5. Peake, these look like 17mm, not 13mm.

13mm dimension in the parts description refers to dimension from base

of switch to end of shaft. My apologies if this wasn't obvious from the

    parts description.

I've just measured and you're correct, and they're 16mm from the base of the switch to the end of the bat. The bat itself is 13mm... Enth, I'll paypal you the cost of the switches and shipping, for having given you wrong advice; PM me please. I'm sorry about that. It WAS too good to be true.

Thankfully Wilba, I'd already read your CS construction page, and have not yet soldered any of them to the board. I might go ahead and use them if they don't stick through the panel too ridiculously far (and it's likely that they would, from what you're saying).

  6. lol If I would buy caps of that size, they would be called Panasonic Purism or Pureism, pure water caps :) and thats the way they are built no ripoff, pure water is kinda  expensive  ;D ;D ;D

now here is the new :

    <%bobo1on1> lol

<%bobo1on1> someone bought a lot of metal film resistors from china

<%bobo1on1> and they turned out to be carbon resistors :P

<%bobo1on1> he thought it was strange that the resistance went down as he measured longer

Odd- numbers 2 and 3 happened to me. ;) I was given a quick partial refund (no shipping). They're still useful  ;D

  7. Check eBay for "tact switches" as sometimes, the 13mm Alps model are sold without the word "Alps" in the subject line.

Edit: Per Wilba's note on page 2, make certain that the =overall= length of the switch, from the base of the switch to the top of the tapered bat, is 13mm. I'd bought and recommended some on which the bat alone is 13mm.

  8. For the planned SEQ 4.0 hardware upgrade: Might the CAN network be a possibility, to communicate directly with something like the MB6582 (notes and controllers) for that perfect timing not possible via MIDI?  :D

Please do not lose the 8 gate outs, which are said to fire simultaneously. Those of us who love our analog synth percussion to line up perfectly would miss this...

(I'm just finishing up my UltraCore, and in the time I've been slowly building, you've announced several OS upgrades- amazing. Thanks!!!)
