  1. Well I've assembled the control surface for my midibox 6582, and attatched it to the main board. I fire up the 6582, and only four encoders change values, none of the buttons work and none of the LEDs are lighting up. The working encoders are the RATE, DEPTH, SUSTAIN and RELEASE encoders. When I turn the SUSTAIN encoder, it causes the mb6582 to play a note that doesn't release. This encoder also cycles through different menus. I've replaced the shift registers and nothing changed. Any idea what's going on with this?

    Thanks,

    Alex

  2. Alright, so I've been able to get a testtone from each SID pair on each core. But I've run into another problem, PIC01 won't transmit or receive midi messages at all, and when I connect the LCD to the PIC, the LCD does not show any text when I turn the trim pot from all the way left to all the way right. Is this the sign of a dead PIC?

  3. I've run across a problem with my MB 6582 where a core will produce the testtone when I connect pin 8 to pin 27, but produce no tone when I insert the SID chips. So I've uploaded the interconnection test app to the core, and checked the voltages, and this is what I got:

    A0: 3.79V

    A1: 3.79V

    A2: 3.79V

    A3: 3.79V

    A4: 3.79V

    RES: 3.79V

    D0: 3.79V

    D1: 3.79V

    D2: 3.79V

    D3: 3.79V

    D4: 3.79V

    D5: 3.79V

    D6: 3.79V

    D7: 3.79V

    CS: 9.05V

Thats on both SID sockets. The readme in the interconnection test file says that all the pins should be 5V and CS should be 0V. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there another problem? I don't have the sid chips in the socket, could that mess up my results?

  4. Today I was walking around the local flea market and happened to stumbled upon an old Maestro Echoplex tape delay for $35, so bought it immediately. Anyone played with one of these before? I want to clean it, and replace the tape but I can't find too much documentation on how to do it.

  5. Thanks for the speedy response Wilba!

All the cores work and I have uploaded testone app to each one. Testtone runs correctly on each core/SID pair, except for core 3's right SID, which produces the right tone, just very quiet.

I just tried bridging pin 8 on the left SID to pin 27 on the right SID and I still got the same quiet tone so I will spend some time tomorrow examining the solder joints and to see if I happened to misplace a component.

    Thanks,

    Alex

  6. Hello Midibox forum!

I've got two working SID pairs in my MB-6582, but the right channel SID for PIC02 plays a quiet triangle wave when I bridge pins 8 and 27 when I run the test tone applicatoin. But, when I put the SID in no tone plays. Voltages are correct, I get 9.02V when I bridge 14 to 28. I've looked around both the MBSID section and the User Projects section but couldn't find what I am looking for. Has anyone experienced a problem like this?

    Thanks,

    Alex

  7. I've having a problem with the 74HC595's getting very hot. Prior to putting in the 74HC595s on the MB-6582 PCB, all the voltages check, but as soon as I put in the first one the voltage drops dramatically. Would this be the product of bad 74HC595's?
