Problem fixed. Need to use MidiTrix and Midi Yoke before I start the Midi SID editor. Thanks
One question for you are you using 64 bit Vista?
I had a similar problem to yours that is still unresolved...I tried to use miditrix and midi yoke with no luck, I am fairly certain I have them set up correctly because I was able to upload the patches using them under WIN XP but no luck so far with VISTA 64.
If anyone has found a solution let me know. Thanks to all!

Thanks for the replies! I guess the post title should have been "Sammich problems with VISTA 64"
I think I have tried all the combinations of connections in the editor, I thought the same thing since MIOS Studio was working the Editor should too, but no luck.
I even tried switching the physical MIDI ports on the 2X2. I had no problems setting it up on 2 different XP 32-bit machines so it HAS to be something to do with VISTA.
Yes it is the 2X2 anniversary edition and all drivers and firmware are up to date.
I will check the thread mentioned above and see if it helps. If not I might have to install XP on my laptop...if anyone else thinks of anything I could try let me know.
Thanks again guys, if I do figure it out I'll post the solution here.

I am having trouble getting my Sammich to connect with MidiBox SID V2 editor using Vista 64 SP2. I used the regular midiyoke and miditrix setup as outlined in the user manual.
I had NO problems using Midibox V2 Editor to edit/upload patches with XP SP 3 but with Vista I get a "MBSID V2 is not responding check all connections error" I know my computer is communcating with the Sammich because I can play it using a USB controller, and MIOS studio works both UP/DOWN.
I'm using a MIDISPORT 2x2 if it matters.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to try. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who put their time and efforts into this project! (TK,nILS,Wilba, and anyone I might be forgetting)
I finally finished my sammichSID. Painting was the only hard part. I have a tip for everyone...if you get acrylic paint outside the engravings and onto the plastic you can use Pine Sol on a rag to wipe it off without disturbing the paint in the letters. You can rub pretty hard with the rag and not disturb the paint. I found this was the best way to get the lettering looking sharp. Keep in mind I only tried this with acrylic paint. Good luck!
Here is a picture...I will put more in the gallery.

How do I upload preset patches into Sammich SID?

Thanks for the reply...I guess the problem is using MIDIYoke under Vista, I had to use an XP computer to upload the patches/use the editor also. I was able to use MIOS Studio with VISTA to upload the firmware I guess because it doesn't require MIDIYoke.
Anyone have any idea why MIDIYoke wouldn't work with VISTA? Or an alternative to MIDIYoke?
