  1. Hi, I used the original PSU which provides 1,7 A on the 5 V rail, together with a fully stuffed MB6582 (all 8580 SID’s). The PSU worked very well for two hours before the fuse on the primary side burned through. So from this perspective the 1,7 or 1,5 A are ok if you use 8580 SID’s. The 8580 SID’s get their power from the 9 V rail, rather than the 5 V rail. If you would just use 6581 SID’s, I guess that the 5 V stream would be loaded even harder as the 12 V are generated from 9 V + 5 V. So this would be an interesting experiment …. Will the original PSU supply enough power to run a fully stuffed box with 6581 SID’s ? Cheers orange
  2. Thanks Janis, are we here talking about 100 mA per SID ? Am I right ? Cheers orange
  3. Hi Guys, I just wanted to ask if somebody knows how much power the MB6582 SID V2 required when you use power option B (5 V DC / 9 V AC / e.g. with the original C64 power supply). I wonder how much Ampere the device draws on the 9 Volt AC and the 5 Volt DC stream if it is fully stuffed with 6581 SID's or 8580 SID's and all SID's are working at the same time. Do I really need a power supply that supplies 2 A per stream ? Cheers orange
  4. I bought from rosch, everything fine so far :frantics: Cheers orange
  5. Thanks Guys !
  6. Congratulations Peter, this is pretty good news :-) ! I am looking forward building the same PSU... Cheers orange
  7. Hi Guys, can I ask for which projects these chips are used ? Cheers orange
  8. Hi Guys, I was informed that the production order has already been placed. I think the number of windows ordered is big enough in order to cover our demand. The manufacturer will produce the windows when he has a free time slot on the CNC machines, so there is no target date given as such. This will also result in a fair price per unit … Please wait for further announcements. Cheers orange
  9. Thanks Guys, I appreciate your positive feedback :-) Cheers orange
  10. Hi, I ordered these parts from Reichelt: http://www.reichelt.de/Testsockel/NIF-28/index.html?;ACTION=3;LA=2;ARTICLE=13450;GROUPID=3217;SID=25gLacoawQARkAACfNJzoa98287c018bb62c4f0e328e8b2424f6b http://www.reichelt.de/Finger-Aufsteckkuehlkoerper/V-PR5-15-M3/index.html?;ACTION=3;LA=444;GROUP=C81;GROUPID=3379;ARTICLE=35375;START=0;SORT=artnr;OFFSET=16;SID=15UNjuWqwQAQ8AAH2rDD458ecd87cdfb539c0c5e96d06a7805539 Cheers orange

  12. Hi guys, I spent some time the last couple of days to complete another MB6582 with some improvements. Check out the SID sockets, they are brilliant. With a simple klick (better known as "no effort") you can install and remove the SID's. This time I went for a green control surface. The machine is called the "mean green SID machine" :-)
  13. @moonk: Have you got DIY G.A.S  ?
  14. Hi, I have already had a conversation with Julian a couple of weeks or month ago and he didn't want to produce them. His concern was the availability of the acrylic glas with the appropriate thickness in the first place. But I also believe this might not be a valuable business for him to invest into :-) I have now dropped reboot a message with the background asking for a bulk production. I would appreciate if we could channel the communication through me, in order not to spam his mailbox. I will keep you guys informed ! Cheers orange
  15. Hi Guys, My windows are 1,5 mm + 1,5 mm. But I think 1,5 mm (the part that goes into the panel) and 1mm or 0,5 mm would also be ok, especially for those who want to move the display closer to the window. As you can see in the Tips&Tricks section, I have got a spacer in between the PCB and the Display in form of a hex nut (0,5 mm). So this distance could be reduced as well, if necessary ... Cheers orange
  16. Yes, that's right ! I think a bulk order would be a good thing.... Greetz orange
  17. Where did you get it from ? I will consider to get one as well .... Cheers orange
  18. Hi, these windows are the best I have seen so far: So I would try to do it that way, they fit very well and can be easily glued on the fron panel. Cheers orange
  19. Thanks for the information, mate !
  20. Hi NorthernLightX, I can understand the background of not publishing a PSU for the MB6582. On the other hand it is more dangerous to leave people alone with this task, especially considering that they are no electronic experts. There is a schematic out there which forms a good basis, so there is just the issue with the power resistor in front of the voltage regulator. I have now lost one original PSU and luckily my MB6582 was not damaged. I am not going to risk my MB6582 with an old power supply any longer. At least I will build the PSU as populated on Retro Donald's page. I will then also try to use a PC PSU with a special adaptor where I have already got the Kit for. I also can't believe that is is so complicated to come up with a solution here ... Yesterday I also found a description that explains the modification of the original power supply, so that it is more stable. The big issue there is that the voltage regulator in the original power supply is covered with artificial resin, so this is also not really a good option. Cheers orange
  21. Thanks Altitude, that's great. Where did you order them ? Cheers orange
  22. Hi, thanks for all the hints so far. I will try to buy high quality caps. The TR 808's are very expensive these days, so it doesn't make sense to save money in the wrong place ... Cheers orange
  23. yes, that is what I will do. Has anybody an idea what kind of power resistor we have to put in front of the voltage regulator ? I would like to go with the optimized schematic in the first place :-) Cheers orange
  24. I wished I was so relaxed to ignore the fact that this fuse burned through for some reason. I think it is better not to carry on with this PSU. I need to place another order at Reichelt :-) Cheers orange
  25. Hi Guys, the fuse of the right PSU got broken yesterday after a two hour session. Thank god the box is still alive ... The fuse must have got broken after I had already switched off the PSU .... does it make sense to replace the fuse and carry on ? I have to do something.... Cheers orange
