Guest brian
Newbie here. :o Here's what I'm trying to do...<edit: image removed>I want to make it so that when the power is cut, an alarm will sound. I am using the 555 chip. I know that this chip works because I set it up to a test circuit I made, and the LED's did flash. ;DI guess my questions would be1) Where do I hook the power up?2) I'm only using about 1.5 volts, is this too little or too much for it to work? The chip says it's rated for this.3) What do I do with the +9V coming out of the top?4) Is there some other circuit out there that would be better, does this even do what I'm trying to accomplish? These questions might seem obvious to you, but to me... :-/Thanks! I really want to get this.
Mickey_Sadler
Hi Brian,Check this site:http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/gadgets/555/555.htmlIt has a power failure alarm (near the bottom of the page) that may be close to what you want. This page is a very good tutorial on the 555. The +9v at the top of your circuit is actually power in to the 555.Later,Mickey
Guest brian
Sorry for the late reply, having troubles logging in to the forum. :-/ :-XThat was it Mr. Sadler, you hook the power up to where it says +9 volts, it all makes sense now, and it works. :o ;DIt had an arrow going out so I thought the power was leaving, haha, thank you so much. 8)
