Nat Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 While visiting the Penny & Giles site, I came across this unit, it's a kind of ribbon fader with leds to tell you where you are, would this work and would it be easy to install ? I guess the leds would be connected like the ledrings on an encoder...here's the PDF :http://www.pgcontrols.com/docGallery/85.PDF Quote
pilo Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 huumm I see this too, and I'm curious to see how it works! But it's a P&G product... the best, but not the cheapest I think! I think the led are used the same way as ledring with encoder! But... It may be possible to build this with and encoder! ;) Quote
Nat Posted July 5, 2003 Author Report Posted July 5, 2003 The thing I wonder is if the led are dependant on where you touch the strip or if they can receive info like ledrings...I can't seem to find a store that sells some also Quote
pilo Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 if you look at the wiring of this device, you'll see that the led matrix has to be handle by the unit on which you plug it... so I think it's made to be used as led ring ;DI don't konw if this can replace fader as encoder replace pot! But it could be a god idea to use this !! Quote
Nat Posted July 5, 2003 Author Report Posted July 5, 2003 Indeed... Now it would be nice to find a price somewhere for it... Quote
gillesdeshays Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 this is like an encoder ... and the led matrix can be used as the led ring on the MB16E Just to write some code for MIOS .... and it'll work !This fader is really cool !!!!!!But it will be certainly really expensive ! Quote
Guest DavidChristopher Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 I just fired a note off to P&G USA for a low volume quote on the endless belt encoders. I'll post the results when I get them.D Quote
Nat Posted July 11, 2003 Author Report Posted July 11, 2003 Wow nice, these things are too exciting :) Quote
Guest DavidChristopher Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 Still no reply from P&G... Maybe they don't want the business... Sounds like odd practice. D Quote
Guest DavidChristopher Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Well, I got the quotes. It's worse than we feared. The 7000 is the endless belt encoder. The moter faders were even more. Ugh... So much for that.PGF7000/1/1/1 QTY1-5 $86.07 EA USD Quote
Nat Posted July 17, 2003 Author Report Posted July 17, 2003 Wow. I wonder who uses these ribbons in the industry at that price ! Quote
