mastomo
Hello everyone, Wishlist for future features ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ add a possibility to copy patterns from one to another session that is great ! another subject, there is something that seems weird to me : about song mode. if my song start with pattern A1 and if in the pattern screen i've choose A2, then when i'm playing my song, the first step is from A2 and not from A1. sometime, this is a problem, specially when i play song 1 and then song 2. the first step is not the good one. hope i'm making clear... best regards
TK.
1. i discovered the exclude from "All" function when pressing "select" ...it works so far but not on the first step, is that right? I checked this, it works like expected: the first step won't be changed if not in the selection mask and if you don't use the first rotary encoder to modify all steps. Best Regards, Thorsten. It can be accessed in the BPM menu page (rightmost GP button), or with MENU+PLAY o fixed "accent on stretched notes" issue o fixed pattern synchronisation issue at very first played pattern in song mode
Best Regards, Thorsten. TK.
Ok, the next release will provide these button functions (and LED functions as well for people who can't resist to use LEDs for everything) Best Regards, Thorsten. Futureman
Hey TK, I finally finished my V4 sequencer the other day, and it's a huge improvement! the poly recording is great! I like the probability layer!! cheers for that! I had a huge play with it last night and have a few questions & suggestions. - As many of my synths have pretty early midi, they don't have the ability to turn off local on etc. As a result, when recording in a riff realtime, the note gets played twice while recording it in (Once from the keyboard & once from the seq). This is ok for some synths, but makes it awkward for others (Voice stealing). Could there be a function in the record page to turn off the new notes being played as they are recorded? - The real time record is a huge improvement over the V3, but I still feel that it's not as good as it could be. If I'm playing a riff in, my natural tendancey is to play it slightly early. So, if I was aiming to play a note on step 2, I may infact play it just before the end of step 1. As a result it feels as if the note is getting sometimes recorded on an earlier step. I can try and play a little bit sloppier and later, but this is pretty counter-intuative. Maybe if there was a paramenter that moved the sensitivity from 0 - 12 ticks (1/32nd). ie, if set to 12 tick (using 96 ticks per quarter) this would let you play up to a 12 ticks before the end of step 1 and the note would still be recorded into step 2 . [i hope that makes sense] As always, your work is stellar! Thanks so much for your help. Regards Mike
Hawkeye
Hi TK, I´d like to ask for a "temporary fast" feature to support acceleration of value inputs while rotary encoders with push button are pressed. A single "button"/DIN Port is sufficient, as all encoder push buttons are chained together in parallel (any of the 16 step encoder push buttons pressed triggers the event). This feature is a real outstanding usability feature on the Machinedrum from Elektron and I guess it would also improve handling of the MBSeq tremendously. Thanks a lot! Cheers, Peter Edited October 30, 2010 by Hawkeye
TK.
Beta30 is available: MIDIboxSEQ V4.0beta30 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ o added LED and BUTTON functions for TRACK_MODE, TRACK_GROOVE, TRACK_LENGTH, TRACK_DIRECTION page to MBSEQ_HW.V4 file MORPH and TRANSPOSE renamed to TRACK_MORPH and TRACK_TRANSPOSE o added LED and BUTTON function for FAST2, which is a second "fast" button with dedicated button behaviour. In distance to the common FAST button, the button behaviour is configured for push (and not for toggle) mode. The intended usecase is to use this function with push-button encoders. o Echo function: support for "dotted delays": 32d 16d 8d 4d 2d In order to keep existing patterns compatible, they are mapped to parameter value 16..21, but displayed/selected in the right order in the Fx->Echo page. Please note that it isn't a bug that 32d is displayed *after* 16T, 16d *after* 8T etc - the entries are ordered by the resulting delay length! o a "Forward MIDI" option has been added to the record page. Previously events played by an external keyboard were always immediately forwarded to the MIDI output. Now it's possible to disable this function for keyboards w/o a "local off" function. o the quantization of recorded MIDI events is now freely configurable in the Record page. Than lower the percentage value, than lower the quantization (-> events not shifted to the next step)
and now I want to see some happy faces! ;-) Some words to the "dotted" delays: after I noticed that 8d is my most favorite setting for audio delays, the motivation to find a solution got stronger. And there is a compatible solution: values are mapped internally - you will only notice this when controlling the delay from external via CC (or loopback) - see also the doc/mbseqv4_cc_implementation.txt file. And another note: some time ago I started a documentation for the OSC option. This is basically copy&paste of an email conversation: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_seq_manual_osc.html Some informations are still missing, e.g. how to configure OSC in internal applications such as Reaktor or Max/MSP, and how to use the MIDI proxy to remote-control a MIDI synthesizer via ethernet. I will add this sooner or later... but as I'm still the only one who finds this topic interesting, it's low priority ;) Best Regards, Thorsten. Futureman
Wow! Had a decent play and the real time record is awesome! 10000x better than V3. I adjusted the quantisation value up from 20% to about 60% and that seemed better suited to me. The ability to turn off the MIDI forward is great! My old synths thank you very much. Just have to finish that darn Ethernet board and I will start bugging you with support requests :D

Echopraxia
You hit my sweet spot with those dotted delays. I knew there was something missing :) Awesome job again!
Echopraxia
Would it be ok if when you choose "save as" for sessions, that it would already display the last name used so I can save as mightyjam2 instead of retyping the word mightyjam? It would mean only pressing the delete button a few times to clear the name field. The only problem I can see is that you have made an edit and hit "save as" and then hit save confirm without changing the name you will overwrite your older save. I think patterns and other things work the same. What do you guys think? I can live without it but just thought I'd get some opinions on it. grizz
I got my new AOUT_NG kit in the mail from SmashTV yesterday. Today I built it, and low and behold it works with my V4 Sequencer!! Yay! Why on earth the other one only works with my MB-6582 will probably never be solved. I also second the opinions expressed regarding the dotted delays... amazing! Cheers, grizz Edited November 5, 2010 by grizz
skunks
Can I build MB SEQ V4 without IIC MIDI? I don't need so many midi outs :)
