NRPN - "current instrument"

It's definitely not possible to feedback the CS parameters to an external device or to LED rings, regardless if they are driven by MBSID itself or values are output via MIDI. Too much code would be required, I'm not really interested to implement this, and I'm even not sure if there would be enough code memory free for such a feature...

Best Regards, Thorsten.

that wasn´t what i meant. It´s just a thought (and slightly off topic anyhow):

If one wants ledrings this might be possible with MB_NG or a c written Mios32 app that:

controlls the whole list of parameters - organiced the way you design it

acts as a patch manager - patches are no longer stored on the sid-core8.

shows parameters anyway you want it.

It´s not a Sid V3 but a "MB_Sid programmer", realiced with mios32 as a frontend; talking sysex to the Mios8 core running the engine.

I have no clue really, but i think the logic that applies when designing a cs can even be managed by a C beginner...

Unfortunately it isn't possible to control all parameters with MBNG, because this application doesn't allow you to change individual bits of a SysEx parameters (e.g. for waveform control).

Programming the logic in a dedicated C based application is the only way for a perfect solution for this synth beast ;)

Well, actually I wanted to provide the "big solution" which allows complete external control - but it's too much effort compared to the benefit, especially since I always used the existing CS by myself whenever I made music with the MBSID (no need for any external editor capabilities at my side...)

However, here the cheap solution: http://www.ucapps.de/mios/midibox_sid_v2_045_pre1.zip

  0C/f) F0 00 00 7E 4B <device-number> 0C 20 <channel|instrument> F7
        Changes the selected SID channel or instrument:
          - lead engine:      selects between --, L-, -R, LR (range 0..3)
          - bassline engine:  selects between --, L-, -R, LR (range 0..3)
          - drum engine:      16 instruments -> range 0..15
          - multi engine:     6 instruments -> range 0..5
        Numbers outside the range will be silently ignored

In the hope that it satisfies your request, and doesn't require additional extensions...

Best Regards, Thorsten.

Hi Thorsten

You are genius!

After more than three years reminding you,

you come up with it without warning on a sunday afternoon. :)

I would love to test it right now unfortunately i am already on the way to work.

But it looks exactly like what i've wanted.

Really great!

Thank you!

Best regards

Marxon
