what is the price with 500 boards on the order

I haven't asked to my manufacturer but unfortunately after 100 units the price drop but not as much as before 100s, and more you order more the drop is decreasing.

Anyway I think that 9€ is a very good price for that sized PCB! We can hope a slightly drop with the reach of 150s but it should be not so important.

Regards.

Bad news: Mouser do not stock enough SIL resistor networks.

Mouser estimate to receive the new stocks for the December 5th 2012.

I propose to modify the time-frame accordingly:

  • Bulk order start: October 29th 2012.
  • End of the list: November 18th 2012.
  • I PM (or email) member with the total amount to pay: November 18th - 20th 2012.
  • Payments will be accepted until November 25th 2012.
  • I order the PCBs and the Mouser order: November 26th 2012.
  • PCBs order arrive near the December 5th 2012.
  • Mouser order arrive near the December 12th 2012.
  • I ship the PCBs and Mouser components to each member: December 13th - 15th 2012.

This time frame may be subject to change due to unforeseeable events.

I'm waiting your feedback about this new time-frame to update the Wikipage.

Regards,

Jerome.

Why not leave the bulk order open for one more week, so that PCBs and Mouser items will both arrive close to December 12? Maybe some more people are willing to join :)

...Exact.

New time-frame:

  • Bulk order start: October 29th 2012.
  • End of the list: November 23th 2012.
  • I PM (or email) member with the total amount to pay: November 24th - 26th 2012.
  • Payments will be accepted until November 30th.
  • I order the PCBs and the Mouser order: December 1st 2012.
  • PCBs and Mouser order arrive near the December 12th 2012.
  • I ship the PCBs and Mouser components to each member: December 13th - 15th 2012.

I will update the Wikipage if there is no other feedback in the afternoon.

[Edit: Wikipage updated.]

Regards,

Jerome.

I think it is OK but how do you get the stock avalaibility date?

Do you phoned them?

It is the date indicated in their site.

Often the date on the site is not sure at all.

Thank you for the information: I sent to Mouser an email to confirm this shipping date and wait their answer.

Regards.

I slightly modified the design of the board.

The revision is now 2.4 and the improvements are:

  • Cap C5 positioning near "IN" DIL header.
  • Silkscreen improvements.

I've named the board "MB-2X8LRE-CS" trying to respect more or less the Midibox naming.

"MB" stand for Midibox.

"2X8" because 2 rows of 8 columns (maybe one day there will have 2X4 or 1X8 board).

"LRE" stand for LedRings Encoders.

"CS" stand for Control Surface.

I would like to have your feedback about it and waiting your suggestions.

Regards.

Sounds reasonable to me, although I would probably put it MB-LRE8x2CS, as the LRE is the more important info compared to the 8x2 "form factor". Also, I think we had the BLM 16x4, for which the number of columns were mentioned before the number of rows.

MB-LRE8x2CS adopted (if anybody see any objection).

Regards.

Hi,

I just took a look the the hi-res PDF layout - have you performed a design rules check (DRC) and resolved all errors? It seems that every other LED shows a marker that looks as if DRC had detected something? Also, I think that some of the tolerances might be a little on the risky side, e.g. with respect to distance between some tracks and ground plane. Your manufacturer might support those tolerances, but are you on a 0% failure rate guarantee? If not it might make sense to increase tolerances somewhat.

Best, ilmenator

Thank you ilmenator for having checked the layout.

The layout pass the Eagle DRC default rules (8mil minimum clearance, 10mil minimum wire width, ...). I do not use extra "risky" tolerance that some manufacturers can handle.

The yellow x-crosses you can see are "zero length airwires", they appear when the intersection of 2 wires of the same signal are not exactly on the same grid (in our case, they are produced near pads but the connection is made effectively inside the pad).

Tim/smashtv already made his observations of this in during the design.

Regards.

upgrading to 8 boards, as

* i am an illumination wh*re :)

* this will be the maximum amount of boards natively supported by the new MIDIbox NG (two SRIO chains with 16x2 shift registers each)

* maybe we can reach 150 boards and get a 50 cents rebate per board :)

* you have gotta love the design - thanks Jérôme :-)

Many greets,

Peter
