Marxon
Hi MidiBoxers, I am a little bit confused about the different ways to make button/led matrices. Which layout should i use to create a 128 button and 128 led matrix for the Midibox-NG? What dis/advantages do they have and why? Layout 1) SeqV4 wiring (64 buttons, 2x64 leds) + 2x DINX4 (64 buttons) Layout 2) Midibox 128V3 wiring (128 buttons) + ? Layout 3) BLM Scalar wiring with only 2 modules (128 buttons + 2x128 leds) Thanks for your advice! Best regards Marxon
TK.
Hi, BLMs are very firmware specific, with BLM_SCALAR I'm trying to standardize this for controllers. Layout 1) SeqV4 wiring (64 buttons, 2x64 leds) + 2x DINX4 (64 buttons) A dedicated layout for MBSEQ V4 which I wouldn't recommend for controllers since it requires a special firmware handling. Layout 2) Midibox 128V3 wiring (128 buttons) + ? Only difference between this and Layout 1) and 3) is, that there are no LEDs! Layout 3) BLM Scalar wiring with only 2 modules (128 buttons + 2x128 leds) Recommended layout since it will be supported by MBNG Advantage: scalability is much better (therefore it's called BLM_SCALAR), also a PCB layout is more simple. Best Regards, Thorsten.

Hi TK, just to be sure: Are you talking about this matrix? http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/button_duoled_matrix.pdf Cheers Lars
ilmenator
I'm not TK, but yes this is the BLM that is supported in the MB-SEQ, and that is not recommended for MB-NG based MIDI controllers. Just in case anyone needs a BLM for their MB-SEQ, have a look it looks as if I had one set consisting of PCB and buttons with caps left. rvlt
Thanks for making this clear, ilmenator. And yes, there is now definitely a PCB (and buttons) for sale from ilmenator. Cheers Lars
