meta events customization

hi everyone,

i have just finished a downgraded version of midibox64 to control the effects section of my quasimidi 309.

the fx send amount of each instrument is working by now, as standard controllers are used (eg CC91 and CC93 on channels 1 to 7).

the next thing i want to do is: control the actual effects settings (effect type, level, delay etc) with knobs.

the 309 uses sysex to remote control these parameters, and thats why i am stuck: I DONT KNOW HOW TO CUSTOMIZE META EVENTS. please help me...

serges editor uses meta IDs and meta event numbers, but i did not find any reference to them.

please take into account that the box runs on a PIC16F877 as i already had it and assume that it should very well be sufficient for my box (no lcd, no buttons yet and probably not in the near future).

is there any way that i can edit the firmware? it runs on the latest non-MIOS (1.01b) but i dont know how to edit that one. i suspect it is not editable since it looks like a compiled hex file. on the other hand i am not much of a programming expert....

ok, enough of that: could someone please point me in the      right direction?

any help will be greatly appreciated
