Noob LCD woes

I've soldered up my gorgeuos Smash TV core, and perused the lcd wiring PDF (http://www.midibox.org/users/jim_henry/building_a_midibox_lcd_cable.pdf)

and the LCD to board diagram (http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_lcd.pdf)

but I still need some info.

1. On the mbhp_lcd.pdf it has a nice diagram but I don't know which end is up.  Is D0 through D7 on the PIC side?  (MODIFICATION TO ORIGINAL: I found the schematic http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_core.pdf which has this info)

2. Also, I got this LCD (http://www.shopeio.com/inventory/details.asp?id=436) and it was advertised as backlit, however, there are only 14 contact points.  Is the eio.com listing wrong or are the + and - contact points somwhere else on the board, like the gold rectangles labeled C and A to the right of the screen on the picture?

3. Finally, I can't find a good selection of IDC assemblies on mouser, Digikey or elsewhere. They all seem to have at least 10 contact points but the Core has pin clusters many fewer in number.  What options are out there?  (MOD: Um...this info was right there on the ucapps' COre page.  No IDC, just solder wire directly to pins!)

Help would be oh so valued.

(so I guess #2 is my only relevant question.)

Most of the LCD's i've used have the backlight pins on the opposite side of the connector. This appears to be the case for your LCD. The two solder pads on the right side of the LCD are where you connect the Backlight + and - (B+, and B- on the core).

Thanks a lot goyousalukis.  Do you know what the label on those two solder pads to the right of my LCD mean?  They're labeled "C" and "A".  Which is + and which is - ?
