Guest elektromeier Posted September 21, 2004 Report Posted September 21, 2004 hi midiboxcommunityim building a lightinstallation with 193 LEDs and im thinking about the fantastic midibox as io interface.i have a few questions because im not update with the latest mios developments. -is there a way do dim the leds via pcm? is the pic fast enough for this application? the controllervalue 0-127 should controll the brightnes of the led-with the midibox64e its possible to drive multiplexed leds. that would make the cabling much more easier. each ring is assigned to a midicontroller wich receives relative values +1 -1 is that correct? is there a way to assign each single led to a midicontroller?-does the multilplexmethod affect the brightness of the leds a lot? can i use the same leds (20-30 mA) im still testing which ones,-in general is it better to use 6 dot modules and 2 core or one core and one multiplexed dout?best regardselemeier
Duggle Posted September 21, 2004 Report Posted September 21, 2004 hi, just a few points to consider:the brightness of LED's is directly proportional to the duty cycle. The update of DOUT modules is in the 10's of uS.Flicker becomes visible 50->100Hz.-> period of dutycyle < 10mSThis suggests that what you mention is do-ablewith 6 DIN modules. The number of levels of brightness will be determined by the acceptable period.
