software recommendation

Can anyone recommend software similiar to Sonar or cu base but at a much reduced cost? My requirements would be wave and midi inigration, with the ability to start and stop the play back with a switch on my DIN module. I've never used Sonar so I don't know if it has this capability or not, that's why I am shying away from buying it and Cu base is way out of my budget. Thanks.

Well,

From your posts I have read I think that you really don't need very powerful sequencer for you specialiced application, so maybe even freeware version will work, try if Quartz works for you: http://www.digitalsoundplanet.com/SoftwareHouse/Products/Audio_Master/Freeware/freeware.html

I don't know if it will follow midi start/stop commands, but it's FREE, with audio tracks.

I agree with moebius, as sonar and cubase should be way overkill for just using it in this project. I will see if I can find anything else to suggest also in the next day or so.
