Do they make a single deck cd player that can be controlled by midi? I know they have the ones that are like turntable style, but I just want one that has a single deck., and I dont need a built in mixer. thanks

Hmmm...

What do you need it to do? Is this just simulating "play" button style stuff? Nothing fancy? Then you could just take a cheap CD player, wire a transistor between those buttons you need to remote control, and use it as a switch, triggered from MB Dout..

Great suggestion Moebius,

A friend of mine is into survelliance equipment, and I suggested he do the same on a VCR for taking monitoring footage when a sensor is triggered.  Still in the planning works though.

I thought it would be kewl to design a CD audio clock to midi bpm for syncing MIDI to CD's, I noticed roland's dj2000 mixer has it, and was wondering if anyone has tried it out?

Or anything similar along the line?

Would make a kewl MIDI-Toy of the week.

;D

That's what I was looking for, one you could sync with midi, I would like to have multiple tracks on the cd with either music or sound effects that could be accessed via midi commands, I know the technology is out there but I like diy.

Hi,

At least my ancient Sony CD player seems to be easy modification candidate..

But if you mod CD player to midi control like this, remember it's really still the same as pressing the keys.. (so track skipping takes its time ect.) But if that's enough, it could be useful ;) So it will not sync to music, but if you prepare your cues well, you can trigger it playing nicely ect.
