Guest paulrevelcet Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 How much voltage do you think, can the PIC18F452 withstand before it breaks, I had a bad voltage regulator and it was putting out about 8 or 9 volts, the chip got warm but not sure if it was damaged. thanks
illogik Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 download the datasheet from microchip, there are maximum voltages given i guess.cheers\
raphael Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Hi paulrevelcet, these are the absolute max. voltages from the 18F452 data sheet:Voltage on VDD with respect to VSS: -0.3V to +7.5VVoltage on MCLR with respect to VSS: 0V to +13.25VVoltage on RA4 with respect to Vss: 0V to +8.5VSo 7.5V is the ABSOLUTE maximum for Vdd. I hpoe your PIC is still working...Raphael
Guest paulrevelcet Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 good news, the pic still seems fine, when I apply power, I see the mios version number and then is says ready on the lcd screen. Would it do that if it wasnt? Now if I can only figure out how to configure the .ini file to set up my dout card. thanks

A few people here have seen partial PIC failures.....I always program them for free so if it is an issue in the future just let me know and we'll get you fixed up. ; )Best!Smash
