Guest ShagWill Posted December 26, 2002 Report Posted December 26, 2002 Hi !I just tought a couple of years ago to build an effect module for my guitarist. In fact, he uses multiples Dan Electro effects pedals and I tought about rackmounting them in a rack and build a device to control them inside the rack via the MIDI port and a LCD to create and save patches. At that time, I didn't know HOW I could make it... but since I discovered this page, I think now it's possible. The only problem I see is how I could control the pot on the pedals. The pedals have both buttons and pots... for the buttons, using the DOUT moudle would work... but there's not AOUT. Any idea ?Thank you !William Quote
pilo Posted December 27, 2002 Report Posted December 27, 2002 heeyyy!!! I'v plan such building... but not dor now!!! So yes, the Huges & Kettner amp (I don't remember wich one!!) can be set up via midi.. I think it's only for switching effect.. but I don't know! But, if you take a midi box which send midi message, and then you build a midi unit that is able to "drive" resistor (maybe with FET??), then you have resistor adjustable via midi! you can build automated analog mixer for example.... And why not adjust the setting of you effect!! Quote
Guest ShagWill Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 Hi !Thats what I want to do... control resistors via MIDI... I will have to figure HOW. Any idea ?William Quote
pilo Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 well... take the midibox you want (maybe the midibox 16E is the most adapted to this). Build it, as it's specified. Then, you have to build a thing that can convert midi message to resistor... I think FET can make such thing, but I haven't the time to try this... Maybe Thorsten will be interest in this and will make just a litte PIC with DAC and...!! It as simple as this I think... but I'm not sure Quote
Guest timofer Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 Hi William, I made a loop switching system using relays to bypass effects from the sound chain. Some time ago i tried to control the loops via midi using the midio128.I was unable to make it usable due to my lack of programming skills. Also the Digital_outs would have to work in paralel instead of serial. The analog switching matrix works really good so if you want the schematics just tell me :)Regards,Emanuel Quote
Guest ShagWill Posted December 28, 2002 Report Posted December 28, 2002 So I just need more information about FETs...Anyone ?William Quote
Guest timofer Posted December 29, 2002 Report Posted December 29, 2002 hey sorry for my last post , now that i read it i sound like a total guitar gear head... :-/ When it comes to pedals there isn't much to do but bypass them or not. You'll find some cool examples and schematics here:http://www.vanhelden.demon.nl/gear/schema.htm#triaxis Quote
