Guest sstandfast Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Ok, I know I'm probably gonna be shunned from here forever and some of you will probably try to block my IP from the web because this question is pretty dumb. What exactally is a MIDI box?Surely were not talking about something that plays those computer-senthisized renditions of songs that play in the background of some people's personal webpages are we? (i.e. *.mid or *.midi files) After reading some of the posts on here I have been able determine that they are much more sofisticated that that. They appear to be some sort of a mixing type tool but I'm not sure what kind. You don't have to answer this because like I said, its a pretty dumb question and please be nice and don't do anything with my IP or DNS servers because of my ignorance. :Phumbly,Shawn Quote
Guest drummond Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 A Midibox is a do-it-yourself piece of hardware which let you control (through faders, knobs, buttons etc) any devices that can receive MIDI signals (like synthesizers, PC music software etc). Most people here have built one (or are planning to build one) to control their multitrack software, using the box to control the volumes, pan, level of effects etc of what is being mixed and/or recorded. A Midibox is not a common audio signal mixer. It's a MIDI controller. Quote
