nachus001 Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 Hi all:I´m new to this forum and I was thinking on what Manufacturer ID to use in DIY projects which require SysEx dumps, like a knob controllerin order to set presets make assignements, and maybe upload firmware..I mean which ID should be used if you´re a DIY'er or if you going to produce some MIDI gadget in low quantities and don't have the required $200 to spend in an annual fee at www.midi.org for a manufacturer IDThanks in advanceNachus Quote
moxi Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 just an ID different from the ones of your other gear... ;) Quote
nachus001 Posted May 16, 2005 Author Report Posted May 16, 2005 Hi:thanxs, so you say that should I implement some way to change the Mfr Id on the fly or give the chance to change this ID to the user in the event it conflicts with other manufacturer gear? What do you think about a "SysEx Lock" dipswitch used to ignore all sysex incoming data? This can be useful for a knob controller since it needs programming only when you need to assign some knob to a controller or a channel, or to meka a preset. Then you can have a preset bank and switch between them on the fly. Do you think it´s feasible for a knob controller? Quote
