i've been looking over the midibox SID pages for a few days now, and i've decided that i want to build one for myself.

i have very little knowledge of electronics and whatnot, but i want to learn.

what i'm really i'm looking for a step by step guide to building this beast.

i guess the first part of this process is designing. what i have in mind is to build my SID into a studiologic SL-161 midi controller.

some questions regarding that are 1) would it be possible to power the whole set up (midi controller + SID) using one power adapter. 2) could i rewire part of the midi system of the controller to function like a normal synth.

(if i sound dumb, please forgive me)

what i mean by that is (for those of you that are unfamiliar with the SL-161) it has 2 midi out zones so it can be used to control 2 seperate modules at once. would it be possible to wire it so zone 1 controls the SID while zone 2 could be used to control another module. at the same time, i would like to wire it so i can control the SID via midi in, if need be.

i hope that makes sense.

thank you all.

i don't have the original adapter for the controller, but plan on buying a brand new controller for this project.

the one that i do have is

in-120vAC 60Hz

out - 9vDC 500mA

pos tip, neg sleeve (does that matter?)

would that work? or should i find something like 1000mA
