nikro Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Hi,This morning I finally had the time to finish the basic steps of the MIDIBox SID. I have programmed the PIC with bootstraper and I easily transferred the MIOS (main.hex) and the 8085 application (setup_8580_without_cs.HEX). Full of expectation I started the sequencer and heard... nothing... :-( Maybe something didn't quite work out with the programming... Should I restart the MIDIBox before transferring the application? By the way, how does the PIC differ between MOIS and the application? After some troubleshooting I found that I had switched the MD and MU connections on the Core-card so I fixed this, but there is still no sound... Can anything have been damaged by this mistake?Instead of the BC547 I use a BC550 which has the same pin configuration (please correct me if A'm wrong).I will add, when this is up and working, controll buttons and a 2x40 LCD. But first I want to hear a sound from the SID.Best regards/Niklas
pwx Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Hi!Check your SID-Module,.... everything soldered correctly...... Crystal in the right Place( the "sharp" edge next to PWR in)...?Mios and application uploaded correctly?Sorry, nomore at the momentpwx ???
nikro Posted September 28, 2005 Author Report Posted September 28, 2005 Everything seems to be ok.... A question about the 10k resistor that isn't needed... Should I (as I have done) just leave it, or should I replace it with a bridge instead?Another question about the chrystal, whichs seems to be correctly soldered. I use a 1.0MHz IQXO-350C... maybe this wasn't a right choice?/Niklas
iamlark Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 the one thing that wouldn't work for me was the SID crystal. try removing the crystal on the SID chip and wiring core ic:17 to sid ic:6that's what worked for me....
