audiocommander
AFAIK mb64 requires just one Core => no Core linking required => ID 0x00 ID[57..63] : SysEx Device ID (0×00 - 0x7f) choose a unique ID if you want to chain your MIDIboxesI have burned my PICs with the default ID 0x00 and never had a problem. Don't know for sure about the MB64 - however, as you seem to be capable of burning your chip, you can always reburn later, if necessary. It's no bad idea using IC-sockets anyway!Regards,Michael
matjiz
unfortunately i don't have the tools to burn my own pic. thats why i wanted to know what other people use as there id for the mb64. i have to buy it from smashtv preburned. what kind of mb do u have? i'm so exicited about building my own midi device, i just hope i'm not way in over my head. audiocommander
I see ;)Then you might send Smash_TV a note about to go for sure...Or maybe you wait a few hours, I know Smash_TV looks regularly in this forum, I think he or someone else who knows it exactly can help you with a definitive answer...:)
illogik
don't get too exited and miss everything.. ;)on smashtv's website on the order/buy page, right where you order the pic there is;Javascript ID Calculator there you see it constist of 3 sections; *the ID number, which is only has to be an unique when you are making a multi core box; so you can choose 00 here most of the time (with two cores you'd name em 00 and 01 for instance)*the type of display; normally character, you would know it if it's not.*I/O type; normally... midiso just go for 0000000000000000 it will work fine good luck

ID does not matter what ID, as long you don't link cores together (as "audiocommander" already stated).A good rule is: If you order one PIC... don't care about the ID. If you order more than one... increase the ID by 1. This way you don't run into trouble, if you wanna reuse your PICs for another project. The rule is: If you link the stuff together, each ID must be unique within the linked system.Greets, Roger
