Yet another encoder question

The alps type suggested (EC16B..) does 36? puls/rev.

The mouser one seems a 24 puls/rev.

Does it matter how many pulses ? Is it noticeable ?

My problem is, I can't find the EC16.. from alps (does Alps still make them ? Only find EC09,EC11 & EC12)
