LCD filtering

hi all,

i have a negatively polarised red led backlit lcd from crystalfontz. basically, i don't like how the background lights up. i need to find out what color transparent perspex i could put in front of the lcd to 'filter' out the background, in order that only the characters appeared to light up.

any ideas?

ta.

hm, red or green; it should be like the ol' 3d-glasses; green lets pass only the red light, red lets pass only the green light

green is the "opposite" color of red; so there should be maximum contrast against red...

but that basically depends on the color of the chars, not that they disappear, too ;D

cheers,

Michael

Beaten by AC again! hehehe

Yeh the background is a dark red and the chars are red, so anything that masks the background will also mask the characters. Sounds just like the brightness control right? Because it is....

Think of this: if Crystalfontz could supply them with a better contrast ratio by using a different plastic on the surface, they would come like that already.

yeah i tried red, didn't do a thing. i think green would mask both the characters and the background. (i think it's the opposite of what you say AC).

stryd one, i also tried altering the backlight brightness, and it was sort of ok, but still not quite what i wanted. the background is blue when the backlight is switched off, so i was thinking the red filter would mask that, but no luck.

i guess i'll keep trying or give up, one or the other  ::)
