japanesepotato Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 I'm planning to build my first box and want to make sure I know what I'm doing.(after read many topics and pdf)Core - DIN 1 (16 encoders) - DIN 2 (3 encoders and 16 buttons) I know it's much simpler than what most of people building here but I already have a question...I got a PCB from smash TV(thank you!!), "J1 on DIN" has 10 pins but "J9 on Core" has 5 pins.To connect DIN to core, do I connect "DIN J1" to "J8 and J9 on Core", to "J6 and J9" or only to J9? if it's only J9 which pins from J1 on DIN do I use?or I have to connect each DIN separately to J6 and J9, like said on smash page "J6 on core" for DIN with encorders, "J9 on core" for DIN with (buttons/digital inputs)...am I getting it wrong?? I read some people asked same kind of question before, I read those but I still couldn't see how it goes...any reply will be much apriciated. please help me.thank you for your time.happy new year :) Quote
audiocommander Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 Hi japanesepotato, and welcome to the mb-forums :)You have not mentioned what application you like to use for your project, but I assume it will be the Midibox64/e, right? Then the answer can be found on the mb64/e page:http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_midibox64e.gifHave you seen SmashTVs PCB-overview pages? They are excellent (just like his PCBs ;) )I expect you also have a DIN from him, so check out this page:http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/mbhp_dinR4.htmland the core: http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/mbhp_coreR4d.htmland here is the overview: http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/info.htmlYou can simply roll over the first 3-D image and it tells you what's below your mouse-cursor.Best regards,Michael Quote
japanesepotato Posted December 31, 2006 Author Report Posted December 31, 2006 Thank you so much audiocommander!! for introducing me all pages. :)Yes I'm planning MIDIBOX 64/E and it's possible to use some extra encoders instead of some buttons on DIN1 right?I read all pages and I'm still confused a bit.I understood DIN gose to J9 on core.http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_dinx4.pdf says J1 is 5 pins. but smash TV's PCB, DIN-J1 has 10 pins and Core-J9 has 5 pins. ???How should I match them?? Do I use only 5 pin of DIN-J1?Best regardsJapanesepotato Quote
audiocommander Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 Do I use only 5 pin of DIN-J1?yes.Just look at the pin names printed on the boards and compare to the pin names printed on the Core and see on the backside where the traces go.best regards,Michael Quote
