The letters after the number mostly tell about the package, ROHS conform etc. D or N is often DIP. Just make sure that you get a 74HC14 and that it is in DIP package. Also the boards from Smash/Mike are using them. So you want DIP!I didn´t say that the letters after the 74HC14 don´t count, just that they have different meaning regarding package type and other version info. The MC from your suggested chip means they´re from Motorola or ONSemi.
