How do I test whether the IIC is built correctly, or whether the PIC is not burned?

The lights are not working, although the core finds IIC1 and no MIDI is sent or received.

Yeah, it displays that there is an IIC1 and Seq3 also finds it, but the LEDs are not working and I would like to get some info on how to troubleshoot it via multimeter.

Well the activity LED's kinda say it all...  Have you got the seq configured to use it - are you sure it's trying to send midi via IIC, not the core midi port?

I have.

The issue is, I do not see the power LED lit (I think it is the green or the red).

Does someone know an electronic test procedure for the board? Which pins should produce power etc?

Perhaps I have nuked the PIC by mistake... :-(

Ohhh. If the power LED isn't lit, that's very strange, because the LED is lit as a part of the initialisation routine on startup. Obviously it is booting OK to some degree, as it is responding to IIC, but other pins are not working.

Did you maybe overpower it, or solder with the PIC inserted?

If you have a burner or jdm, I'd try reloading the firmware.

Have you confirmed the LED's are connected correctly as they are polarized. The Anode MUST be positive and the Cathode at about 0V.

A quick test can be made with a spare LED

5V-----------560R--------(A)LED©-----------0V

The resistor can probably be as low as 180R (based on 20mA and FV of 2.0) but to test a 560 is good

On most (all ?) LED's the 'flat' on the LED body is the cathode and the long lead is the Anode.

Hey that sounds like a good idea. I had a feeling this might be an error in the circuit, and if the LEDs are all backwards they'll stop the midi from working...
