brother303 Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Hi all,I already started soldering my mb6582 now. I want to stuff my unit with 4 x 6582, 2 x 8580 and 2 x 6581.I know about the different psu-options,the jumpers to get 9 or 12v and about different filter-caps for the different SID-versions.My question is : Are there any changes in the main.asm-file required when I want to stuff some 6581-SIDs? Or just put in,select the filter caps and psu-option and be happy?THXBrother303
Wilba Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 I believe the only difference now between the 6581 and 8580/6582 builds of MB-SID firmware is the default filter cutoff range.See the manual:http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_e.htmlI recommend you use the same firmware (setup_mb6582.asm/setup_mb6582.hex) for all PICs which will have the default set to the 8580/6582 range, and then for the slave that has 6581, change the range for just that SID, in all ensembles. If you could be bothered, you could hard-code the default range so all ensembles would initialize with the 6581 range for one SID pair, but then you'd have to manage this difference every time TK does a new release.
brother303 Posted December 4, 2007 Author Report Posted December 4, 2007 Hi Wilba, thanks, this helps much. It`s ok to me to make a little change in the filter-menu (ensembles).Don`t think I`m going to code... Thanks lot,Wilba! Great support!! ;D
