    Hi all

Sorry to be harsh bust this kind of advise SHOULD NEVER TAKE PLACE !!!

It's again all safety rules, wrong understanding about this can be lethal.

We clearly see aluminium case at first pictures so it's clearly not a class II

YOU MUST KEEP SAFETY EARTH CONNECTED TO CHASSIS !!!!!!

    You are right!

    My mistake ill delete it.

  2.

Similar discussion featuring dutch houses, better to connect the pc and adaptor to an "earthed" outlet:

    http://computertotaal.nl/forumarchief/1-moederborden--processors--overklokken--casemodding-en-koeling/73388-hoe-zit-dat-met-geaard-stopcontact

Same deal in my house so very interesting stuff (dutch-site).

Anyway good luck earthwise and congrats with your working MB6582:)

Looking at the diagram here it's probably the expected behaviour, as +15V is always present. If the polarity was reversed the electrolytics would go pop and nothing would get through the regulators.

    Yep agree:)

If it has a metal frame and earth pin, do you get continuity between it and the 0V line in the MB-6582?

if so a solution could be isolation(not connect) the earth pin in the 220v plug (stekker) or use a flat 220v plug(earth pin less en discard the 0v connection ),

    if i'm correct..

  4. Hi,

Selling my sammichSID combo; 1- green fill in 6581 8580R5's  1-white fill in 8580's Sold ill need to open them up to take picture of the sid's.

    all working like supposed.

Reason: finished 2 mb6582's and wanting to buy the 1u mb6582 supporter:) the one @strophlex sells

    €350,- including shipping

€700,- including the pma5(without adaptor) if desired. located in the Netherlands shipping needs calculating but €700 will cover it all i guess.

not for the money but for the gear!

  5. The 6581 needs 12VDC. So 10VAC is not enough. As the 7812 needs 15VDC input to regulate. So i would say you would need atleast 11VAC. Since most transformers don't come in that spec, you usually end up with a 12VAC one. Then the 2200pf 16V is pushed to the limit. Thankfully Tim used a high quality one.

    Thanks this enlightens a lot

good thing i let my a500 psu live.

  6. nice psu!

Would it be a good idea to make it 10VAC,due to the elimination of humming since the 7809/7812 need burnoff voltage?

Like MissionBrown uses 15vdc at the 9vac input ()

just wondering about this during the weekend staring at my amiga psu thinking would it work.

I used the white brick 5v/1,7A that caused hum.

i had a blackbrick laying around without an connector so instead of wiring the amiga psu i wired the black brick(same specs as moonk)

Seemed that the blackbrick reduced the hum more to the background.

for now the blackbrick is my friend:)

    inside my mb6582:

there are 2 8580r5 chips (with white brick bit hum ,with blackbrick almost silent)

    There are 6 6581 chips (with white brick a helicopter,with blackbrick stil a bit hummy/hf artifact-sounds)

So i was thinking since the mb6582 adds 5vdc and 9 vac to make 12vdc(if im correct),

would the 6581 chips be more silenced (humming wise) if the 7812 regulator got some more voltage to burn?.

I'm new at psuWorld but probably 10vac would be a good choice for 6581 stuffed boxes(unverified/theoretically)?,

hence the 2200pf 16vcould handle this( since 10vac is rectified around 14,1vdc right? )

or am i just an hummingbird;)?

i'll leave my amiga supply in his glory and go for pro like oranges box!

just need the right juice for a hum-free environment!

    greetz Hans

  7. I feed 12V dc into my MB6582 where it's supposed to have 9V dc. The voltage goes through the rectifying bridge (loose some voltage) smoothing caps (no change) and finally through regulator (regulated down to 9V). It works fine and doesn't seem to generate much neat (actually I think it generates less heat than the standard 9V ac way). One thing I am thinking about though is if the dc cable is more prone to pick up noise than an ac dito.

Does strophlex means feeding it to the 9v ac input on he connector?

This because it goes thru the rectifier which should make ac dc right?

I just want to be sure before i cut the A500 cable and make it adapt the mb6582 supply socket.

still a bit wierd to make 12v dc /9v dc and the let the mb6582 add 5 v dc to make 12vdc again.

    Well Confusing :)

i just dont want to open it up and rewire the mb6582.

maybe i just should go a build a new adaptor.

ps:if this is possible i geuss the cap rated 2200pf 16v ,would have a to low voltage rating right,

    pff i feel noob now:P

  8. Hi,

since im very happy with my new synth and playing it a lot,

i noticed noise in the audio.

@first i thought it was the fan making noise so i put in a 7805 for the fan and switched her power to j25,

Still the noise stayed readreadread you know

and now i think its the psu.

Well i happen to have an amiga 500 psu readread etc.should be a good alternative.

is it just possible to feed the amiga 12vdc power into the powerplug on the mb6582??

    because it get's regulated anyway?

i builded it to words an c64 psu ,

or is it better to build an totally new psu?

    Thanx!

ps:(its an heavy 5v/2.5 amp amiga supply so i geuss it linear)

    Hans

  9. Dear Hans,

I think your LED's are a bit bright, and too yelowish!

    for the record :

These are my own words when elektruck was present and helping me with the firmware upload,

Luckily i had socketed the led resistors and went for the 1k instead of 220 ohms.

So now next time elektruck visits me he can take off his sunglasses.

Some warmth for elektruck since the :baby: forces him to move his studio to a cold shed.

    ;)

  10. :) thnx everyone

@elektruck :hehe been fixed the day after it gave u welder's conjunctivitis ;)

also replaced the sync led thinking it was broken, after some reading i guess it doesn't light up in the firmware right? :)

    peace!

  11. The panels are from Julianf (recommended)

    Sids from c64 doners:)

Used the 5v6 zener/triac crowbar to avoid horror.

    lovely lcd from poland(ebay)

Next to do is taking the fan out off the 5v line,

add an 7805 for it on the extra perfboard and feeding it with dc from before the rectifier.

trying to figure out the options for the external connector (ssm2044 or something like that)

and add different knobs because these ones are not mine:)

and ofcourse make some music with it!!

Tk,Tim and Wilba thanks for the pro work!!

I geuss im getting addicted to midibox

    Peace!
