  1. Well, I guess what I'm maybe thinking is, three 8580 cores and one 6581 core, just for the hell of it. Will the "noise" of the 6581 bleed through even if that core isn't being used at the moment? I'm still trying to grasp the overall concept of the way the "cores" work in conjunction with each other.
  2. Thanks! I have access to both 6581 and 8580 so I'm trying to weigh pros/cons.
  3. I found the combination of 6581 and 8580 chips in a sammichSID, the general consensus seeming that it was inadvisable. However, has anyone actually tried this in a full 8-chip MIDIBox build? My understanding is that there is a way to accommodate it on the PCB if one is crafty…but I sort of feel like I must be missing something as this combination seems to be exceedingly uncommon in practice.
  4. Hypothetically, the Audio In function of the MIDIBox SID seems really intriguing, but I can't seem to find any concrete sound examples of the feature in action. What sorts of implementations have you guys tried/recommend?
  5. That clears it up! Great response, thank you.
  6. This feels like a really ignorant/basic question, but something about the MIDIBox/sammichSID universe confounds me: why, in SIDPlay mode, are three voices of the SID (on just one SID chip, right?) able to be accessed to play original game tunes, but the same multitimbral function is not available when playing the MIDIBox/sammichSID as a synth/sequencer? I get the sensation that I'm misunderstanding something fundamental about the SID and it's MIDIBox implementation, but I haven't been able to parse out what that misunderstanding might be for myself.
