In the BOM for the base board it says in the notes for the 220 Ohm resistor [Solder Last Must Match LED Brightness] - How would the resistor affect the LED brightness?

Hello all I am currently preparing my first SID Synth build with the MB6582 boards, and I have some questions regarding the power supply options. I guess my main question regarding the power options is which option would one recommend? What power socket would I use? I noticed there is an expansion connector. Is this for connecting other MB6582's?
