  1. Thanks a lot much appreciated. I used Jlcpcb for smaller facias like Microdexed Touch, Zynthian Mini or the MB6582 quite successfully, but with this size don't you get a lot of bending even with two stacked together? I was able to export the eagle file to dxf but it is huge and really struggling with the fonts. Might have to read up on how to export without the fonts. Like this Inkscape crashes on me quite regularly. I finished my Sequencer a while ago but want to get a metal enclosure now and also make an enclosure for the BLM and TPD like you did. How did you connect the AOUT to the many outputs, is there another pcb in there or just a lot of spaghetti cables? cheers 6040
  2. Outstanding looks really cool. Would you mind sharing the files for the panels? cheers 6040
  3. Hi Phatline thanks for the pointers. I meant the Midi Monitor of the Sequencer itself (Menu-Midi-Midi Monitor). The good news is I got it working. I switched the ICs and made the cables a good bit shorter. I don't know what it was in the end, but my money is on the cable. cheers 6040
  4. Hi all, I finally put together my Midibox and most of it seems to work, but I am stuck on the Midi In and Outs. I followed the build guide of Modular experiments (http://niroke.blogspot.com/2017/07/an-unofficial-build-guide-for-midibox.html) The four IIc Midi Outputs work. The other 4 In/Outs do not. When I power it on the lights on both MBHP_MIDI_IO light up briefly. When I connect a keyboard to an In and press a key the light on that port goes on as well. In the Midi Monitor I do not see any Midi Ins, should they show up? When selecting any out on those boards it does not play. It does however play on the IIcs. I had the nose on the cable from J11E to the MBHP_MIDI_IO on the wrong side meaning the 5V went to the wrong place. I hope this did not damage anything. Any help for further troubleshooting? cheers 6040
  5. Thanks a million Phatline, that the "Si" to "So" part is just what I needed. I guess it is time for glasses finally :) So if solder this J8/9 "Pfostenbuchse" on the underside of the PCB the direction is reversed meaning the nose looks to the left? (Instead of to the right as in your picture). cheers 6040
  6. Hi all, I am following Hawkeye's build guide and am wondering about how to crimp the cables for connecting the pcbs together. If I crimp a cable according to this picture S0 and S1 are switched. Shouldn't this be a 1:1 connection? Unfortunately on the Wilba CS board there is no marking on how to position the "Pfostenbuchse" WSL10G. Looking through all the photos of the different modules it looks like the cutout on the "Pfostenbuchse" WSL10G is where S1 should be, correct? Should the connection be 1:1 or should S0 go to S1 instead? cheers 6040
  7. Thanks Keeze for pointing me in the right direction. I did some reading an it looks super easy: J16 ENC28J60 Vd VCC Vs GND SI SO SO SI SC SCK RC2 CS
  8. Hi I am in the research phase to build one of these beauties. I want to add an Ethernet port for the BLM emulator. Since the LPCXPRESSO is unavailable I believe I have to go with the MBHP_CORE_STM32F4. Has anybody used the MBHP_ETH sucessfully with this core? Is there a pcb/gerber for the MBHP_ETH available to buy? Cheers 6040

Thanks is the SwinSID Ultimate the only one to support this? It seems to be unavailable.

Thanks a bunch, got it now. One last question if you do not mind. The feedback pots only work on real chips and not on the swinsids, correct? Or is there a special version of the swinsid that supports this?

Could you explain a bit more how I would add a noise gate? I probably should not have mixed two issues into one thread. What is the purpose of the Sid Ch Select (L/R)? I cannot hear any difference, not even on stereo patches. Thanks 60/40

Thanks for getting back to me. I tried the three working 6581 chips I have in Sid Socket 1 alone and they all have that issue. If I put the Swinsid or 8580 in that same socket it is gone. I found this on the ucapps site: After a sound has been played, you can sometimes still hear it in the background: thats also an known issue with the VCA of the SID chip. This seems to happen to me but without playing anything just selecting a patch. Is there anything that can be done with settings to get rid of this?

Hi all I am surely no expert in soldering and I probably did something wrong. If someone could tell me what happens on your midibox if you select the sid channels (L/R), that would really help. I made a small video of the 6581 issue https://streamable.com/nbp45w There is no midi connection I am just flicking through the presets of the bank A. The sound stays on until I select another preset and it is especially noticeable on the Zelda Sounds. This only happens on the 6581, not on the Swinsid, neither the 8580. I moved the 6581 around to a different pic and the problem stays with it. Any thoughts? Thanks 60/40

    Sid Ch Select

Hi all, I finally got my hands on some working sids for my MB-6582 and have been playing around with it. I gave up on hunting down ebay chips as most of them are not working. I got two already that half work for lead sounds but the rest does not work. Anyway here is what I have so far: Sid1 Swinsid x 2 Sid2 8580 x 2 Sid3 Swinsid x 2 Sid4 6581 x 2. Unfortunately the Swinsids are not as loud as the real chips but they sound ok. Is it normal that on the 6581 each time you select a different sound that it plays it in very low volume. I cannot hear this on any of the other chips? What should happen if you select L/R or both chips on one sid? I was expecting to only hear the left or the right or both channels but nothing changes, I always hear both channels without any difference. Cheers 60/40
  15. Hi all I figured it out myself after reading the sentence a hundred times. So this one will not be soldered but connected with a removable cable instead. Any particular reason for this? Cheers 60/40
