  1. Right. Well I"m a dork. Thanks for the info. Cheers, ChuckO
  2. Hello there, I have a seq that was working fine on 2.3 . I'm using an 18f452 pic. I have uploaded the new MIOS and bootloader. (update_with_old_mios.hex) I got this on the feedback: [D0 1A 00] Channel 1: Channel Pressure value: 26 The LCD now reads: Bootloader is up-to-date Now when I try to upload the 3.1 (setup_mbseq_v3.HEX) here is what I get: 00000002852470 ms | [EE 02 00] Channel 15: Pitch Bend value: 2 00000002854556 ms | Sysex message: F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7 00000002856446 ms | [EE 02 00] Channel 15: Pitch Bend value: 2 00000002858532 ms | Sysex message: F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7 00000002860425 ms | [EE 02 00] Channel 15: Pitch Bend value: 2 The uploader says: Sending block 00008000-000080FF Received error code 05: Write access failed (invalid address range) - used by 1st level bsl Aborting after 16 errors After that I have to reinstall the mios to get anything to appear on the screen. Not sure what is going on. It did work with the earlier version. Thank you for any help.
  3. Thanks again for some great comments. Pricing was the reason it took over 2 years. I would hold on something till I could afford to get it done. Or buy the components. There was also lots of redesigns as I went along to make things work. I was luck in the silk screening that I had a friend that could make a screen for me. I did a lot of trial and error to make that work. About the 5 shot with the ink finally looked ok. The LCD is red and I'll try and get a better picture of that up. It's not as red as the powdercoat but still more red than pink. The construction of the sphere was a tricky one. I took a 6" steel sphere and cut out a 3" hole in the bottom. Just enough to get my hand in there. Then cut all of the holes for the pots. To close it up I got a 5/8" thick 3" dia steel disc and counter sunk a screw in the middle. Inside the sphere, the screw threads into a 4"x1/2" steel strap that just lays in there. When you tighten it up, it cinches the whole thing closed. I was trying to go for an odd retro look as well which is why I used the walnut and crinkle powdercoat. As for my website, I am still working on it. I just wanted to get something up. Thanks again.
  4. I was at a surplus store in LA and saw a large float ball used in water tanks. I though it would look cool with knobs on it. I wanted to put the whole thing in a sphere but couldn't quite work it out so came up with the extra box. Thanks for the compliment.
  5. Hello to you all. This project took over 2 years on and off. It started with a vision of knobs on a ball and went from there. I'm not that great a writing so I'll just get to the technical stuff. The project consisted of: 1 Core Module 1 AIN 1 DIN 1 DOUT 3 Custom pcbs for the buttons. The buttons which include a red led are from EAO switches. A bit pricey but what I needed for the look. The lcd is red which came out pink in the photos was from a surplus store. I got the knobs are from digi key. The case is bent 16g steel powdercoated and silk screened with walnut sides. The ball is steel as well with the same powdercoating. The AIN module lives in the ball. The project is the strait forward MB64 project. Thanks to everyone who helped on the board when I was having trouble. I also made a Seq. You can check it out at my site www.opticallightpipe.com . Cheers. ChuckO.
  6. Hello, I have been messing around with FSRs lately and am finding they could make for some interesting designs. Has anybody had any luck with velocity? I set up a FSR as an anolog in and made it a note. Works just like a pot and steps the note volume up and down. Is there a way to only take the initial touch value as the note velocity and throw out the rest of the info till the value returns to zero. Thanks for any info.
  7. Well I finally got it to work. I was sure that there is no problems with the design or software. My problem was changing the code. It was not building correctly. What I found out is that when I use MPLAB to edit the code, it has to be built in that viewer. What I was doing at first was saving the code and then building it through MPASM. This was making some warnings that was confusing the code and in turn garbling the lcd. The bourns encoders are "DETENTED2". The sequencer is great. Perfect for live performances. I will post some pictures when I can. Thanks again for all of the help. ChuckO.
  8. The original program works fine except the encoders are very sensitive and can skip notes. I guess I am unclear as to which file I update. Do I update the "setup_mbseq_v2.asm" file or the "mios_tables.inc" file. Do you know if the bourns encoders use "DETENTED" or "DETENTED2" Thanks again. Chuck
  9. So I finally got the Sequencer done and the program uploaded. It seems to work great but the encoders skip values. I figure that the dentent value has to be changed to "2". I do this to "setup_mbseq_V2". It seems to compile ok and convert to sysex ok but when I upload it the screens just give out garble. I'm not overly proficiant with dos but it seems like everything should have worked. Does anyone have the "setup_mbseq_V2" sysex file with "detent2" command working? I am using the encoders from http://mbhp.coinoptech.com/. Any help would be great. Thank you.
  10. Thank you for the help. I found a cold solder that was causing the problem. :)
  11. So I got my Sequencer basically put together. It seemed to upload the firmware without any errors. The lcds display thing ok. The problem I am having is all of the leds are flickering and none of the digital ins seem to work right. I check for shorts and the DOUT voltage seems fine. I'm just not sure where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  12. Does anybody know where I can get some 2x40 blue lcds in the US. I could go out of the country if I needed to. Any help would be great. Thank you.
  13. Does anybody think they can make these work with the midibox? www.nkksmartswitch.com/LCDHome.asp
  14. Is it possible to make the midibox plus 16 with the modular system. I only want the 16 pots and 8 buttons in this first project. Thanks in advance for any help. ChuckO.
