  1. Director is a specialty of mine so that's what I'd be using.

But at the price they are asking for it, it'd be prohibitive for most of us peeps.

Still, you can download a month working trial version for free and make an app with it.

I know for a fact Apple uses it for all their UI prototypes.

    cheers,

    Jilt

  2. I'm also very interested in this matter, retrofitting external control to existing gear to make it more useful.

I'd love to learn more about digipots, but I'm still also very interested in a pure analog way, because then you have the choice of controlling something with MIDI, or with real CV (from say your modular)

  3. did yours also look like 2 seperate pads with 2 wires in the middle seperating them? are we supposed to fold them together before they work? do we fold the sticky sides together or apart? i'm a bit concerned folding it at all since the connecting wire on plastic bit doesnt bend all that nicely

  4. Hi, I'm working as well to make a custom MIDI controller for my favourite VJ software, in my case Flowmotion ( which I also made, www.robotfunk.com/flowmotion )

actually I'm hoping to make a control panel to control both Flowmotion and Ableton Live at the same time, this would be the best solution for my live audiovisual performances.

  5. are you on pc or mac?

for the pc you could use the mabry midi activex which was liberated to open source a few years ago. For the mac im sure there are freeware options

also www.troikatronix.com is betatesting pc version of their xtra, mac versions have been available for a long time

  8. Anyway, I think that soon the price of commercial controllers will come crashing down anyway. Maybe you can design a custom surface, and connect it to a cheap commercially built controller? For much less effort than building midiboxes?

Yes I already did that, people can download an overlay for the doepfer pocket dial

but thats nothing compared to a real MIDIBOX of course :)
