  1. http://www.gweep.net/~shifty/death/

can be run using midi interface, using the EZKIT lite ADSP21xx

from Analog Devices.  I jsut picked one up for $50 on EBay.

the ezkit lite provides the supporting hardware to run effects.  and you can get sample DSP's from Analog Devices.  I am thinking of getting some pcbs made ( similar to the EZKIT lite boards) to support my 4 other ADSP-2160s.

Any one else interested in getting some pcb's?

  2. There is a little information in Barry Klein's book

"Musical applications of microprocessors" regarding the Zyklus. It did give me a little insight into its workings tho.  When I get back from my business trip i will dig up the info and post it.

  3. Wow TK..

This little slice of web heaven has been a godsend.   This feature will quadruple the usefullness of this partricular midi project.  OMG  back to soldering..!! :)

BTW this community has already changed my working and creative process in regards to live composition..

    Thanks again everyone.

  4. Hello all, I am thinking of makng a bank change handler for each track or pattern in the SEQ v2 program.

What  I was thinking was an additional track property ( or perhaps layer )  that is used for to play a bank change command.  It would need to play or trigger one time, when the pattern is initially loaded.

So you could be playing patterns in your Sequencer, then load another pattern form bankstick, for play, and it would send out the program change  to reflect the instrument or voice to be used for this pattern.   is this possible?

I understand u can use the META Event function for this type of data, but I want to integrate it into my sequencer app.

    Any comments appreciated :)

  5. Hello alll, currently building the MBseq v2 ( TK's design).  I have a question regarding the pattern handling.

I understand you can edit 1 pattern live ( 4 tracks ) while the other 3 play.

Now is it possible to change which of the patterns you are editing on the fly?

    For example

pattern 1 is playing 4 tracks they are in the editing buffer.  Pattern 2 and 3 are playing 4 tracks in the back ground.  Now lets say i have made a change to pattern 1 and now want to change pattern 1 to play in back ground and send pattern 2 to the edit buffer or to the "front panel".

Can this be accomplished without stopping the sequencer? and if so, is this currently implemented int eh code?

  6. The PX-7 can already do many of the things you want in a sequencer.

this was taken form the yahoo XL-7 user  forum. ( px-7 is same family)

"now, if i write a total different multi [lets say to sequenz externalgear] and if i later go back to a

pattern i made before the XX7 did not recognize the multi used originally

    by the pattern.

    >>>That's because Patterns have no way of knowing what Multi was used at

that time, and it's irrelevent anyway. <<<

It uses different presets and fx parameters.Whats the right way to save

patterns and multis to be able to acsess them at any time?

    >>>That's because Patterns also store this info, so everytime you recall a

Pattern, it will ALWAYS use the Pattern settings. Multi info is only

recalled when you Restore a previously saved Multi, otherwise Pattern have

priority. Basically, if you're just writing Patterns, then save the

Patterns and don't even worry about Multis. Here's a quick rundown, this

is by no means a complete list though:

    PATTERN DATA

    - Presets assignments for each channel.

    - Effects Types.

    - Effect Send amount.

    - Sequence data (notes, CC's, sysex, aftertouch, etc)

    - Any other setting you make while in Pattern Edit (ie, output).

    MULTI DATA

    - All of the above.

    - Screen contrast

    - Midi Menu settings.

    - Custom arps.

    - Controllers menu settings.

    - All global settings.

So you can see, that Multi's save a lot more information than Patterns,

but in terms of making regular tracks and such, just saving the Pattern

should be sufficient. Multi's come in handy when you want to set up the

Controller Knobs to control different synths externally, and you need

different CC's for each knob depending on the synth. Just one example,

there's literally hundreds more. I think this is covered in the FAQ too.

the Px-7 is great piece of gear.  But this is the right place for adding some unique and custom controller, viewer, manipulation devices to yoru set up.

Also with OS2.0 you can use there Xmix function which is really neat.  can take swap patterns oen at a time "morphing " them  as u change.

also you an do live edits whiel sequencer is in PLAY mode.

The Emu's are a great piece of kit.  And with Emu announcing the discontinuation of their hardware support for samplers.  Be a good time to pick up a sampler to round out your kit.

  7. Well I just compiled and installed slackware 9.1 on another drive of my comp...

I must say it has been years since i have done command line stuff.. took me almost 22 hours before i got my head back into the right " mindset" .      Before Windows.. i had a pretty good grasp of computers and programming in general.

could write  programs no problem..  then i went away from  computers  for about 4 years.   Went into the military.. and look.. whats is odd about this computer...

OMG its got colors!! and a ... thing ( mouse)  wtf....

any 12 years later.. and I am back to the console... staring at a blinking cursor..

hehe years of plug and play and GUI's have ruined my thinking ability..

    inc lawsuit microsoft!!

    damn..

    late rant  :)
