  1. Hello everybody, I am trying to program a simple circuit in which i can control software parameters with pots. I am trying to learn how to do this. I think it is not too much difficult to send midi data to the pc. But i don't understand what the SysEx is about? Is it not possible to make a controller wihout sysex? What i want to do is: I am going to put for example 6 pots. And each pot sends different events on channel 1. Then i will open for example Reason and then use its midi learn function to attain the pots. Is this possible? And I think when the program is closed then these parameter assignments will be lost i think. How can i store them? Thank you for your help. If these are too stupid questions i apologize but i am not an expert :)
  2. Hi Today i tried the Pic 16F877 with a 20 MHz crystal but the problem is the same. :( Now i have "0" Voltage at Tx. Now I think something with the Pcb is wrong and i am going to make another one. Thank you Gökhan
  3. Do u think that the PiC may be burnt or something? I tried the Rx Tx shortening and Send/Receive Sysex in Midiox, the receieved data is slightly more than the send. What does this mean? And the 7805 heats up very well. I am slowly loosing my energy :( My e-mail address is www.kavadar_15@hotmail.com, i am almost every day on msn. So I will appreciate any help :) Thank you very much Gökhan
  4. Hello I my crystal is almost the same as in the picture above. I also have another one which is similar to the other one( short ) , i also tried that but it also didn't change anything. If we assume that the crystal is ok, then what else can be the problem? Thank You very much Gökhan
  5. Hello Thanx for your advice, but unfortunately I dont have the opportunuty to check with an oscilloscope. Today I bought another 10 Mhz crystal and the Tx voltage was again different. (0.3. V). When I went to the electronics shop I asked for "Parallel Cut" Crystal, But they just stared me and said they do not know what it means. So is how can I know that my Crystal is paralel Cut or not? Can I maybe try the crystal with different condensers such as 22pF?? I thank you very much Gökhan
  6. Hello I looked again; Only Core: Tx=0.5V, Rx=5V LTC Attached: Tx=3.2V, Rx=5V The other Voltages at the pins are ok. Thank you Gökhan
  7. Hello I controlled again the voltage across the Pins. There is a Problem in pins 25 and 26. They both must be 5V. But mine is 3.16V in Pin 25 which goes to Midi Out and 0.2 V in Pin 26 which goes to Midi ?n. Thank You very much Gökhan
  8. Hello, I do not receive the "Request for upload"....when i switch the core. 1) MAX232 is stuffed 2) Optocoupler is deconnected 3) Cable is ok 4) Checked the 5V. Ok 5) contrast is ok Shouldn't be there something going on in Midiox when I open the core. In Midiox I select the Yamaha drivers for inout and output. Then it says midi input opened and ouput opened, but only black screen after that. One thing i am not sure is that, i dont know my crystal is parallel cut. How can i check this? Thanx Gökhan
  9. Hi I checked the JDM and now the Bootstrap loader is burnt into Pic and Verified. There is no problem. But when i turn the core on still nothing happens. In the LTC module I soldered only one 74HC00. the other ones place is empty. Can this play a role? Thank you Gökhan
  10. Hello Everybody, I was just experimenting with the virtual midi box. I managed to control the parameters of the devices with the knobs. But i couldn't assign a midi knob to the "Stop" "Play"... buttons in Reason 2.5. Is this not possible or is there a certain way of doing it? Thank you very much Gökhan
  11. H?, When I verify the Pic it says "Verify failed at 0000h!" . I hope that the Pic is not burnt :-\ Thanx Gokhan
  12. Hi When turn the core on then nothing happens. In midiox nothing happens and the LCD shows only one row black boxes. I guess the Pic was not burned succesfully. But i did the troubleshooting tests and the pic was ok. I don't know what the problem can be Thank you , Gökhan
  13. hi, the midi in port problem is now solved. I had to change the port from com3 to Com1. Now in the sysexbox i load the mios sysex file and make the device id 0000000000000100 and then press th load button. A data transfer happens but nothing changes. The lcd still shows black boxes. (I reset the box) In Midiox, the data which should appear every two seconds does not appear by me. The window is all empty. Again here when i load the sysex file, some transfer happens but nothing changes. Thank you very much Gokhan
  14. First I want to thank you Lemonhorse for this wonderful explanation. Finally I understood it. But there is sill a problem: I installed both the Yamaha serial midi driver, when I open SysexBox then I select the yamaha ports, but there says "Midi ?n Port not ready". Im really confused with that. ;) Thanks for your help Gokhan
  15. Hello everybody, Can somebody please explain me step by step how to load the MIOS into the Pic Through the COM port. I have JDM programmer, P?C 18F452, Core, LTC module. I am reading everyday the related pages but i still can not do it. So it would be great if you can explain me the process very simple. I thank everybody who helped so far and are going to help Best Regards, Gokhan
  16. Thank you for your help. I read the to-com page and found that i must change something in the source code. It says :code located in init.inc, function: Init_USART. Where is this init.inc? I only have the bootstrap loader which has 2 hex and 1 readme file. Thank you very much and excuse me if I ask so stupid questions:) Gokhan
  17. Hello :) I loaded the mios_bootstrap_loader_v1_1b into the Pic via a JDM. Then I made the LTC module connected it to the core and the LTC to the parallel Port of the PC. (I have no midi ports) But when i open "sysexbox" or "midi ox" then it says "there are no midi inout device". Do we have to connect the midibox from the "midi in" port? :) Thank you very much Gokhan
  18. thanks a lot. I have checked the core and now when i connec it i see the black boxes. But i couldn't understand the Bootstrap loader. And how to do it. I read about it but couldn't understand most of it. Is there another very "simple" step by step guide? Thank you very much.
  19. Thank you for your attention I started to build the MB64. I made the Core module. I have one question now; When I know connect the LCD the LCD does not display anything. Is this OK or Do I have to connect at least one input module and connect to the PC so that the LCD displays? Where can I know now that my Core module works? Thank you
  20. Hello everybody, First I want to thank to evetbody who have contributed to such a great information, especially Thorsten. I am reading for about two days about midibox. SO far I understand that it is very flexible and everybody can make its own midi box. But I didnt understand some points which I want to ask you: 1) For example I want to make the MB64. I will use some pots buttons and faders. And ? will also use 2 encoder pots. Is this possible. Can i connect tem to the DIN module? 2) Do I have to make changes on the P?C program when I change pots with faders? 3) If I want to add for example two DIN modules for the encoders, then will i have to change the Program? 4) I didn't understand the things about all the SysEx... and so. ( I mean the software part). I dont know assembly or C, so how can I modify the PiC program for my needs? 5) The last question; I want to use my Mbox with Reason 2.5, so how I gonna do that? Or Ableton Live or another application? Thank you :)
