    LCD 4 X 20

Just to better explain.... What I would like to understand is the way to control the rows of my LCD display. (for exampple avoiding the first row and starting from the second) Which file I have to modify, which variables...? Just to remind in this trhead ( http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=5110.0 ) there are some explanation but it seems that doesn't much with the file I loaded in my Midibox SID (V_1_7_a). Regards Antonio

    LCD 4 X 20

Hy everybody, i have some problem to set in the best way my 4 X 20 LCD. I explain better, since my LCD has some problems in displayng characters in the first row (it seems that something is broken) I would like to use only the second and third row. I know that is a problem of Offset, and i found out a trhead ( http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=5110.0 ) about this, but i really don't know how to implement what Thorsten suggested to do. I think that the problem is in my different version of MIDI_box_sid software(my version is MIDIBOX SID_V1_7a). Thorsten talks about DEFAULT_LCD_SIZE in main.asm. I think that in my version this variable is called CS_MENU_DISPLAYED_ITEMS. Is it right? Moreover, i am not able to find any "#if ... #endif soubroutine that controlls the value of this variable. Am i totally wrong or in my version of software the soubroutine are managed in different way? Regards Antonio
  5. Hello Everybody. I'm starting to build a second core module to use as a slave in my MIDIBOX SID. In order to save components and time, I wonder if it is possible to avoid to solder some components that I suppose are used only by the master core. Here is the list of the components i would like to save: transistor, resistors, pots of the LCD Display Driver; (T1, R3,R4, P1, P2) J4-J5-j6-J7-J8-J9-J15 connectors Moreover, since I Use an optimized PSU, i don't solder in each core module the diode bridge, the voltage regulatore 7805, and C5 and C6 caps. Is it correct? My core module will run? Ciao Antonio
  6. It seems that the problem disappier. It need a better check of the connection between sid and core and everything begun to work fine. Bye Antonio
  7. Hello everybody, my sid plays random key. I'll explain better. If I play a basic scale (C-D-E-F-G-.....) time to time I heard random sound: sometimes out of tune or sometimes out of scale. I think that it is a problem on the incoming midi data. I run interconnection test and everything seems ok. I think that could be a sort of noise on MIDI data, but I can't fix the problem. Has Somebody some an IDEA? Ciao Antonio

    4*20 LCD

Hello everybody, which is the best setting for a 4*20 LCD? I didn't find any information in the main.asm file,so I decided to set it like a 2*40 LCD. Is it correct? Thanks Antonio
  11. Thanks! Another problem could be some bad connection! Tomorrow i will check! What about the display? It shows the following message: A 1 C 1 1 ------------ Internal Patch. Is it correct?
  12. The MIDI SID is working but after a while of nice sound there was a reduction of volume and an increase of noise. I don't know what happened. Maybe something too hot, maybe some bad connection, maybe..... Is there anyone that want to suggest me something? Regards Antonio
  13. Hurrah!!!! my SID is working and my LCD is displayng the following characters: A 1 C 1 1 ------------ Internal Patch. Is it ok????
  14. Hello, I'm trying to build a MIDIbox SID. I already assembled the Core and the SID modules. The core seems to comunicate through MIDI ports with MIDIOX, so I update MIOS_v1_8 and I load MIDIBOX SID_v1_7a. And now the problems start. 1) The LCD doesn't show anything. To be more precise: the back lite is on but it is not possible to read anything. I checked the connection between LC and Core module and everything seems OK! Since I'm tryng to use a 4*20 LCD I changed main.asm file for 2*40 LCD. Is it correct? With MIDI-OX I sent F0 00 00 7E 40 00 0D 02 00 0B 0A 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 F7 and MIDI-OX received F0 00 00 7E 40 00 0F 04 00 F7 I expecetd to receive F0 00 00 7E 40 00 0F 00 02 F7 Where is the problem? 2) SID MODULE: no sound only a small noise that could due to a bad 50Hz filter. I run the interconnection test and everything is fine. I'm using the C64 PSU modified (but not optimized) Which other test can i do to solve the problem? Any suggestion is welcome Ciao Antonio
