Would it be possible to use LC for analog console automation?
SoulFood replied to SoulFood's topic in MIDIbox HUIs
Ok... this is a little OT, but anyway... I can't seem to find any schematics of mixers, that have already done this (SSL c200 comes to mind)... Does anybody know where i could get them? THank you! -

I don't have the plans yet... And I'm not building it into an existing console :S First I will do a normal MIDIBox LC, and than trial and error, how to make it work as a analog mixer. I was hoping i could get plans for something like an SSL 4000 or 9000. Maybe I could even get some clues how to get rid of the noise there (and build it too!). I would still like at leat 8 busses and 8 auxes... :-\ Borut -

Hm... Thank you so much for your input Doc! :D Does anybody know how the big boys (ssl...) solved the noise problem? What were the other problems? Also... wich dual-fader did you use? Thank you so much again! Borut -

Thank you for your replys! This would be a great way to control an analog desk (and way cheaper than anything out there...) I think I will first start with just a MIDI controller, but I can always modify it with the dual track motor faders... Is there anything I should be thinking about, when I try to figure out how to do automation? I think many of you have thought about it, but since nobody has done it, what problems do you see? Thank you so much and sorry for the late reply! -
thx for the reply and sorry for the delay! i've been real busy in school :S anyway... i'm kind of scared with starting with the LC version... isn't it way harder than the normal?

Hello! I don't want to miss anything while i'm choosing, what options i want to control in Cubase, so i'm asking you guys for some advice... what would be the most handy ;) For every channel i thought i'd want to control Mute, Solo, Record and panning, but for the main part, i don't really have any idea. I found this (http://www.mackie.com/products/mackiecontrol/pdf/MCU_Steinberg_Overlay.pdf) and this looks like a pretty good start. would you add anything else? Thank you so much! SoulFood

WOW!!! ;D Thank you so much! If i would build an LC, would I need a seperate core for the 16 buttons? And another question (maybe i'm pushing it with this-one ???), is there a way i could use an LCD to show me how I named the tracks in Cubase? Thank you! SF

Thx for the reply raphael! That looks like a great project! But i would just like to have a few trigger buttons (like the one on the link in my first post...) Would this be possible? Thank you! SF

Hello! Could someone tell me if it is possible? if it is, is it possible with the 64 or only LC? has anyone ever done this? what would i need to make it velocity sensitive? this is what i'd like to make, if i didn't write it correctly... http://www.zzounds.com/item--MDOTRIGGER Thx so much!

I realised that my last question was completely off-topic, so i'm gonna post a new thread.. Thanks guys! SF

That's fantastic! I just have one more question... (until i start building and i'll have to troubleshoot;) Could i dedicate 9 buttons to triger midi events, like a synth would (or those pads, with wich you could triger samples...)? Would i just have to set these buttons to do this, or completly reprogam a part? Thank you so much! SF

Hi all! I'd love to build the LC! The only problem is, that all the info on how to operate it went right over my head :-[ I'm not worried about building and soldering... I'm really worried about how much programming skills are necessary. Should i just settle for the 64 version? Thank you all! SF
