  1. Yep these look exactly like what I was looking for - I had found some other companies that list prices but they were well into 3 figures for the cheapest one and some were almost a grand! Any idea how much these tracksys ones might be - just a ball park figure? I have pretty much ruled out the possibility of buying one and as said above I looked at a mouse and the mechanism takes gravity into account so its not flippable. I think a simple trackball mouse might be the most cost efficient way. cheers
  2. I have recently been looking for buttons like the ones on the faderfox. They are momentary and have a really easy good feel. I asked the guys at faderfox and they pointed me to these that are made by ITT CANON http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?sku=1201378 from what i can see the only problem is they panel mount but on the faderfox they are nice and flush with the surface giving enough distance to push but not be soggy, something like a laptop key although a bit firmer. They come in all sorts of colours and as round or square - if they are like the faderfox ones then they have a slight metallic glint. My problem now is that as they pcb mount and I am a newbie and want to by bits from smash tv, how can I incorporate them into my controller. You seem to know your stuff so I dont suppose youve got any suggestions? can I mount them onto another board just to hold them in place but then wire them to the DIN, what do you think?
  3. try googling farnell and use their search function - but you need to search for linear potentiometers not 'fader' and also make sure you dont get logarithmic ones. From what I gather from others (i am still scoping out parts) the ones most people go for are made by ALPS, i have found 100mm and 60mm but havent looked for 45mm
  4. thanks for the advise, i'll have a lok at this - and yeah i agree theres no point in using an midi for the mouse stuff cheers
  5. thanks for your help. Yeah i think i am a traditionalist with the EQ pots and really want them to function like standard mixer ones. I'm irritated i didnt do german at school cos its such an arse trying to find suppliers of the correct parts... still on the search for those style of buttons..... cheers
  6. Hi, Im planning the layout of my midi controller for ableton and as much as I want to get away from the keyboard I know I'll still want to use the mouse for lots of things that you simply cant do easily with a midi controller. I was thinking it would be cool to have a omnidirectional ball mounted into the controller to emulate a mouse and then a little button above it - sort of like you get on some arcade games (i think). Does anyone know where to get one of these and what its really called. (i was thinking if i couldnt find one i could just turn a mouse upside down?) Would it then be possible to use the software Ive seen people talk about that emulates midi to hook this up to the computer? Any ideas/ help on this would be great - has anyone got a better navigation solution?? thanks for your help III
  7. Hi - ive got a few parts questions im hoping peeps can help me with. I'm planning the lay out of a midibox 64e which will be a 6 track ableton controller. 1, I bought a faderfox a few months ago and its too small for me but one thing it has that is really useful is the rotary encoders also double as push buttons. I want to replicate this on my controller so that my 3 eq pots are also push buttons that i can use as kill switches when pushed. Does anyone know of a pot that has this function? I know you can do it with rotary encoders but i dont want the feel of an encoder on my eq's - alternatively does anyone know of a rotary encoder with a push button that feels like a normal pot? 2, does anyone know where to get buttons similar to those on the monodeck 2 - standard simple push buttons. - http://www.monolake.de/monodeck2.html 3, anyone know where I can find an endless jog wheel? Do they behave like rotary encoders or would i hook it up as two buttons 4 - does reichelt have an english version - it looks great but i cant understand a word unfortunately thanks for your help III
