  1. the wiring does look really bad in the picture... but most of that is because all the cable from the all the din and dout are over 3 feet. I did this because it will far easier to access the wiring on the back of the buttons. The other boxes wiring is a lot shorter. The real weried thing about all of this is that is sometimes happens and sometimes not. But as soon as i switch around some of the midinote values the problem goes away. So, it makes me believe it might be something else...
  2. Ok thanks to the love of mr smashtv my new box is finally of the ground. Though there is this strange issue I have been having with both of my midiboxes. It seems that if I have the midinote out grouped to close together like 1-64 midinote numbers for 64 leds/button set(they the leds and buttons are grouped to the same note) .. that they sometimes randomly turn on leds that I've not called and need to be turned on and then turned off for the leds to turn off. I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with this.. it could be the usb midicontroller which is what is transfering the data to the box but, I have tried to different controllers and both had similar problems. I can say for certain that it isn't the software because, I have already tracked it's out put in another program and it is not sending any of the midinote data that is related to those leds. Thanks and here is the new box evan!!! ; ) This is a newer version of my midi interface that a posted about here around a month ago.Ok these aren't the best video but it will give at least an idea of the size and brightness of my new box. The issue I have is that I do not have a video cam. anymore since I sold it to get the parts for this thing.( The video clips that are in this post are from my digital camera(picture)) I built a little reaktor patch to do the animating that is seen in the video. I'm might include some some of this kind of stuff in a different performance patch latter. So, unless someone in the bay area wants to help make a video demo for this toy, = ) this will be all that I can give you for awhile. Basic Info about the box Built under the ucapps midibox spec. The buttons are from sparks electronics but, they do not directly work with the ucapps spec. I had to hack up the boards by scratching out connections and add connections in odd places. It wasn't impossible but it is kind of sketchy at parts. 3. I found another bit of strangeness going on that might have something to do with the resting... All the din connection from d7-d4 across all boards and connection.. are working for each button press at a time but once two buttons are pressed all the notes in for the 4 pin block go on. I'm not sure what i should be looking .. I swapped the chips on the digital ins and the connection and everything is fine. I also check to the hardware and there was not problem there. thanks = ) evan
  4. So I finally got all of the wiring i can get done on my box at the moment done. There are some leds out that need to be replaced... along with string of resistors that need to be replaced also which, is why a whole row of LEDs are not working. Anyways I have been turning on all my leds through midi and not matter where they start or end, once all 64 digital outs are turned on the whole box resets itself. I do me at 64 total because I have turned on all but one and it doesn't reset but if a turn on that last one it resets. I guess this it's a big issue but I curious if there is something that I should be checking for. thanks evan here are some pictures of the box
  5. So what was the problem... Well come to find out that the outer S0 pin doesn't connect to the points on the board .. so one should always make sure that the connect the S0 to the pi row closest to the ics. evan
  6. tried the midinote 18 without the the dout plugged in and the core doesn't reset.. also tried it with the 2 none working douts plugged in and it also didn't reset. At this point I'm not sure what is working and what isn't... i'm debating where or not i should start over form the beginning and just buy all new card because, this is just driving me nuts.
  7. can you put the resistor network in the wrong way? I have them the same way that is in this picture. I assumed that the connection would be the same as a normal resistor in concept. http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/mbhp_doutR3.html I have the networks soldered into the board and when i tried to remove one of them a pretty much crushed all the pins in bad ways. The fact that have two cards seems to make me believe it is something in the d-out cards.. hmmm... I might just have to buy two more and see what happens.. since the core seems to working fine with my other box well expect for the 18 midinote. The funny thing is that the once a plug in the orginal core back into the older box... it has no problem using note 18... is there a default numbering in the new mois spec that is for resting? Because the orginal core is running the previous version of mois. thanks ; ) evan Morris here is the old one any here are some of the new ones .. those are rubber buttons in which leds sit
  8. I have been having this issue with my digital outs form my new midibox over the last few months, and I have just about lost it, no matter what I do I can't get them to function. When I start up the box sometimes they will stay on constantly other times they will flicker at start up like a working box does but, still don't work. note:The digital outs are the new ones from avishowtech and i have the mois 1.9 installed. I have tested the core with my other midibox and it works fine with the older dout cards. So I'm assuming that it's the dout cards because of this... expect for some reason the box was resting itself when midi note 18 was turned on?? I have pulled out the shift register chips and put them in my other box.. they work fine. I have tested the resistor network and all the points are working. Could someone give me advise on what else I should check? thanks ;) evanMorris ps here is a video of the kind of stuff that i am doing with midibox spec.... http://www.lostscience.org/buttons/highfi.mov
