  1. Hi Darrell

This looks like an interesting solution to the problem of linking the two boards.
But note that the cables need to be very short in order to reduce noise, the ones you linked to are 300mm, just under 12” to those of us still using imperial units and I’m fairly sure that they would be too long. The Amazon seller lists a similar set of cables that are 100mm that might be better but from what I remember from the original build discussion that may still be a bit “iffy”. Need to find the reference in the original thread, a quick effort to search didn’t locate what I was looking for, I’ll try and find time over the next couple of days to do a more thorough search.

  2. Hi Jay

Tim (aka SmashTV) ceased suppling pcbs, kits, etc a while ago.

Boards can now be purchased from Modular Addict. Good quality and service.

However I don't think they supply kits and parts.

    Check MA out here:

    Good luck

  3. Just tried my V4 sequencer (with STM32 core) on the MacMini running OSX 10.10.2 and it sees that but again I wasn't able to check whether there is any midi data transfer. It's my work computer so no music software installed.

At least TK has Mac computers,  although I have no idea what OSX version he is using. I seem to remember, in the past Ploytec have been able to get Apple to fix the drivers fairly quickly.

But I agree Apple isn't all it claims to be - was once a fan-boy but no more - though I still have my Mac Plus that was upgraded from one of the very first batches of Macintosh 128K's that was imported into the UK back in 1984 - cost over 2000 GBP at the time !!

  4. Hi mOOdawg

I've just checked one of my GM5x5x5's on a MacMini running OSX 10.10.2 and it's not showing up at all, works just fine with OSX 10.9.

Also, checked one of the original 1x1 interfaces and it shows up - but the display in the midi window of the Mac Audio MIDI Setup utility is showing the icon for the 5x5x5. Go figure!

Unfortunately not in a position at the moment to test actual midi data in and out on the MacMini. However, should TK need help with this I can certainly move some equipment around to assist any troubleshooting required.

    All the best

  5. Having this problem too. Happens with both Safari and Firefox (Mac OSX 10.4.11).

I have tried removing the cookies, at least the obvious ones that I can find:

    forum.midibox.org      PHPSESSID

    www.midibox.org        PHPSESSID

    www.midibox.org        midibox

Removed them from the list in the preferences panel, even left the Midibox site before I did this, all to no avail.

If anyone has any ideas on solving this rather aggravating problem I, for one, would be very grateful.

    Thanks

    John

  6. Hi Asaf

I bought one of these blue LCD's from Divineo awhile ago when they were mentioned in the MB6582 thread.

It is very nice and have had absolutely no problems with it. I got the data sheet from the CrystalFontz website.

Wilba was correct in saying the backlight adjustments on the Core module don't seem to have quite the same range as with most other displays, but I haven't found it to be a problem. Changing some resistor values would probably fix this issue anyway.

  7. Hi Goblinz

I have an Epson 4800 inkjet printer and have purchased a roll of self adhesive vinyl for this very purpose. I actually have the front panel design for a Music from Outer Space SoundLab that I have nearly finished building ready to try. For this project I am using a 3U rack panel. There are also several MidiBox projects nearing completion so I hope this works!

What I was thinking of doing was printing and applying a version of the panel with just the hole centers and any cut-outs marked. This could be used and abused during the fabrication of the panel. Once this stage was completed the vinyl could be stripped off and replaced with the final version. Not sure yet how best to apply the vinyl - I am going to try "floating" it into position with a little soapy water and then carefully squeezing this out. Once dry the vinyl could be trimmed with a very sharp knife.

The inks from the printer are supposed to be waterproof so hopefully this will work without any smudging.

Bubbles can be pricked with a sharp needle and the air released if this becomes a problem.

I should be attempting this in the next week or two and will report back.

    All the best

    Hi Stryd One

The first link is for a kit using a Bucket Brigade Device similar to the one in the schematic that Nils posted.

The problem with BBD devices is that they are noisy - hence compander cct in Ibanez design, they have poor distortion figures and the bandwidth is limited. To change the delay through the chip the clocking frequency is changed, this in turn changes the bandwidth - basic Nyquist theory.

The other 2 links are for relatively cheap ready made digital delay boards, thinking about getting one myself to play around with.

There are, of course, off the shelf units like Alesis' Picoverb and Behringer's MiniFex which aren't too expensive.

    Regards

    John
