  1. He is currently busy with moving.
  2. I have everything needed to build mb6582, except the panels for the Pactec PT-10 :[ So if anyone has panels and would be willing to mail them to Finland I would very much like to buy them.
  3. Can't figure out whats wrong. All the voltages are correct, but i just don't get any sign when i short pins on the DIN module Here are some pics:
  4. Oh ok, Thanks! So i now did all the tests and i get 5v from them all, like it should be. So why isn't the MIDIO128 program sending any signals when i press the buttons? I even tryed with another core :o
  5. I have now wired all my modules together and ofc when i hook my Din chain to the master core, it does not work :p No surprises there anymore, nothing ever works at the first try. :D So i upload the MIDIO application to my core and started shorting the pins on the first DIN module on my chain and i see no MIDI Traffic. Maybe i should do the srio_interconnection_test_v1? I already tried it but i couldn't figure out what pins it wants me to test. The LCD just gives me one pin name at a time, but multimeter has two test leads... I read the main.asm instructions but i had problems understanding them. main.asm: ; The Pins are mapped to following Modulation Wheel Values: ; ; # 0: Pin CORE::J8:DO and DOUT::J1:DO = ca. 5V ; # 1: Pin CORE::J8:SC, CORE::J9:SC, DOUT::J1:SC, DIN::J1:SC = ca. 5V ; # 2: Pin CORE::J8:RC, CORE::J9:RC, DOUT::J1:RC, DIN::J1:RC = ca. 5V So basicly where do i put my multimeter test leads? It would be important that i´m doing the testing right :) But i managed to measure the SC/RC voltages from the 74HC165 pins and all expect one showed 4,85. The one that didn't work is at the last module second last chip, so 11th chip must be shorted. Can someone give some hints how to do the srio_interconnection_test because i couldn't figure it out :\
  6. Oh ok. I was just expecting something like "Notice that after changing the Header you have to update the Upload Options to match the new header". Thats why i missed it ;)
  7. Yea, well that would be the next step but i don't wanna spent any more time just to debug one module tbh :p I can just add it later ;)
  8. Someone should add this to the README ;)
  9. So i decided not to make the last SID module.. Atleast for now :D I did everything i could and it didn't wanna start working. I got 2.6Volts from the SID Sockets pin 14 and 28. Well anyways now i´m doing the wiring for the multiple setup. And i discovered a Bug from the Change ID application. When you upload it to your PIC it works OK and displays the new Header, but when you try to upload a new program it does not want to take it in.. What i mean is that it does not give a checksum and it does not work even with the force mode. The versions that i used: bootloader_v1_2b_pic18f452.hex change_id_v1_9c It also might be that i did something wrong :P Well that does not stop me wiring the modules, so atleast i have something to do ;) Btw i ordered a box for my midibox today. One of those cheap Hammonds aluminum cases for 22e it's dimensions are 400x200x76mm I know the 76mm height is pretty odd. But im sure ill figure something out. Its gonna be something like the Virus Desktop. And its only 20e so its not a big deal if it does not work out :p I try to make it look like that. So it will definitely need some cutting :) Now someone is gonna ask that how did i plan to get text to the surface of the box. Well i´m gonna try these PnP sheets that are specially desinged for frontpanels.. Who knows maybe this could work :p
  10. Before i go to sleep i have to post a pic of my new test environment. The old one looked so crappy ;(
  11. Yea those two are the PCB:s that i forgot to wash :D Solder does not want to stick to a board that is not washed after etching. I fixed the another module by resoldering some of the components. So tomorrow i have to resolder the other module too :>
  12. Maybe the regulator is broken? I always use the same cable made with Harwin connectors to connect the modules. I don't think the cable is the problem :p
  13. I just did some more tests with the modules: I checked for shorts outdoor against the sun.. i scratched all the places that looked a little suspicious.. but i couldn't find anything big I did the Voltage tests at the SID page: Module with Audio Wire: IC1:Vdd(28) - IC1:Vss(14) = 9V IC1:Vcc(25) - IC1:Vss(14) = 5V IC2:Vdd(16) - IC2:Vss(8) = 5V IC3:Vdd(16) - IC3:Vss(8) = 5V Module without Audio Wire: IC1:Vdd(28) - IC1:Vss(14) = 13,7V IC1:Vcc(25) - IC1:Vss(14) = 5V IC2:Vdd(16) - IC2:Vss(8) = 5V IC3:Vdd(16) - IC3:Vss(8) = 5V So because the module with audio wire has correct voltages i tested it again with the interconnection test (no i didn't forgot to hook the registers), but i get nothing at all :\ It's starting to get weird, and i´m starting to get out of ideas :\ But the good thing is that i was able to groove with the 6581's and SidPlayer!! That really cheered me up :)
  14. Nah
  15. Ok now i have successfully tested two of my 6581 modules and they worked. Atleast i could play them with MIOS Studio!! WooHoo!! But with JSynth i could only modify the sound not get any patches to play. So i wonder what's with that? But anyways they seem to work and produce nice oldschool sound! :) I´m still trying to get the rest of the SID modules to work. I have two 8580 modules that i have been trying to get to work but they just don't seem to pass the interconnection test. The problem is that when i´m doing the interconnection test they completely fail it. Both of the modules seem to have different problems. Another module (the one that does not have audio wire soldered) gives 7,5Volts to the pin that is selected at the test and the pins that aren't selected display over 12volts. Another module (one with the audio cable) does not display any voltage from any of the pins. I tryed to look for shorts at the copper side of the boards and did little scratching, didn't help. Then i heated some solder joints to remove any cold solders. I also tryed changing the register chips, and that didn't help either. The problems still remain same. So here are some pictures of the SID modules that are causing me trouble My horrible testing are :p 8580 Module with audio wire: 8580 Module without audio wire: Together <3
  16. The shiftregisters are correct way and the cable is conducting and in the right pins I have used the minus wire as a ground (Blue wire in mbhp_4xsid_c64_psu_optimized.pdf)... Maybe this could cause the SID to not make sound at all? I'm currently just trying with one core and one sid, because i wanna test them all individually and see if there are some problems. Its easier to debug them one at the time I'm gonna post a picture of my setup at least tomorrow when there is day light. But i will try if i can get some decent pictures at night. Who knows, maybe if i use lots of sensitivity and put some exposure time and maybe the pics will look good :p
  17. No, i completely forgot those :o But now that i added them and tested again they didnt seem to have any effect on the interconnection_test but now the sound that the SID is making is different. Its this very high pitched silent noise. And it changes a little when i turn knobs and stuff like that. But the point is that it does not work :<
  18. All the voltages are correct and i have 470pF Styroflex caps for the 8580's I did the mbsid_interconnection_test and i didn't get the 5V from any of the ports. Only the last #14: Pin CS# = 0V was true But im not sure if i used the "right" ground i mean what is the ground anyways? Isn't it minus? The ground that i used in my tests is the blue wire in this setup mbhp_4xsid_c64_psu_optimized.pdf I also have both pins of the Audio In connected to that Blue Wire Im using the Latest MIOS and i tryed to play with midibox_sid_v1_7303b. And the next thing to do is to try it once more with all modules and cores :\
  19. No i tested with different SID chips and with different Modules Basicly i have cross tested every module and they all share the same problem: Nothing but noise comes out of the sid when i try playing something :\
  20. Yea i connected both of the Input pins to the 5VDC Blue wire you can see in the diagram, But it didn't help. I now also tested with another SID module and the Problem remains the same :\
  21. Haha this is getting really funny, because its seems everytime i solve a problem there is already a new problem waiting :P Ok i uploaded the MIOS and Sidplayer to my Core and i have done the wiring like this: mbhp_4xsid_c64_psu_optimized.pdf Now when i push Play from the ASID i just hear this "ZRRRRRRRRRR" noise and i can even control the noise by raising the speed of the song and the noise gets faster. And in JsynthLib (with SID application) when i turn a knob i can hear some high pitched noise. I tryed with 2 8580 Chips and they both have the same problem :\
  22. Ok i installed some drivers and put the interface on Advanced Mode and Wooow it started working :D
  23. MIDI In is only 2 wires :p And i have tested them both ways :\ I Guess i do those optocoupler tests now
  24. Oh wow, the color code of my R5's are Blue,Green,Gold,Gold and reichelt said its 5,6k :D I just trusted them blindly Well anyways i now changed the resistors to green blue reds but the problem still remains exactly the same :\
  25. But they are needed when you separately test the modules. I'm gonna remove them before i make the wiring. At the moment i haven't been able to upload the MIOS, because it looks like this: Starting upload of mios_v1_9e_pic18f452.hex Hex file contains code in MIOS range, forcing reboot! Received Upload Request Sending block 00000400-000004FF Error: Received unexpected Upload Request Sending block 00000500-000005FF Error: Received unexpected Upload Request Sending block 00000500-000005FF Error: Received unexpected Upload Request Sending block 00000500-000005FF Error: Received unexpected Upload Request Sending block 00000500-000005FF Error: Received unexpected Upload Request Sending block 00000500-000005FF Error: Received unexpected Upload Request Sending block 00000500-000005FF Process stopped by user The PIC just keeps seding those upload requests when i start the upload.. I don't know what is the problem but heres what i have tryed: Tryed with 3 different MIDI interfaces and they all gave that same Tryed with another core modules and still the same problem I did some debug tests from here: http://www.ucapps.de/howto_debug_midi.html Test IN1.. Checked Test IN2.. Checked Test IN3.. The led is always on (no flicker) Test IN4.. Led is still on Test IN5.. Led flickers when i send MIDI Data Test IN6.. -Not Done Yet- Test IN7.. -Not Done Yet- Test INOUT1.. -Not Done Yet-
