So I've been successfully using my MB64 for several months with out it falling apart (yay!), but I've recently noticed the LED backlight fluctuating every now and then. I can only notice it when viewed at an angle and it seems somewhat related to moving controls. It happens maybe every couple of minutes or so. I suspected it must be a power issue, maybe related to using a switching power supply, but it does it on my linear bench power supply as well (both far exceeding it's current requirements). Is this normal? It doesn't really bother me, I just want to make sure it's ok, and won't potentially damage anything. Thanks in advance...

I guess they are pretty clicky, but clicky is awesome in my book. You get solid visual, audible, tactile confirmation that says "yup, I just pressed that button" :)

I'm not sure if this the correct forum area to post this, but I have finally finished my first MIDIBox64 based project I started in 8/07 (I'm slow/lazy :) ). I had many false starts and headaches making it, but it was entirely worth it. I plan on using it for Live and Traktor DJ sets, as well as simple Max/Msp sequencer patches. Overall it cost about $400 USD (but would of been much less if I didn't splurge on nice faders and make a bunch of incorrect orders). It consists of 1 Core, 2 DIN, 1 DOUT, 1 AIN. Info that might be of help to others: -Bourns makes a very nice DJ Style fader that you can order in the US from Mouser (though only in 60mm length) http://mouser.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=b8viKDOLiXaWB8SJ8GW14g%3d%3d -Wilba's JB Weld trick for panel mounting pcbs works very well. -When ordering parts always order enough! So I'm a little bit lost when it comes to changing pin assignments on the ain, din, dout. So far I have all the pots on my MB64 working, but they are out of order for the sake of clean/easy wiring (same will go for the rest of the 32 buttons/leds I have yet to wire). From what I have found the relevant files to modify are MB64.ini (which then must be converted to sysex) and Main.asm (which then must be compiled into a .hex). I think I've found the relevant sections in the commenting of both files, but the code looks foreign to me (I have very little coding experience). Could someone give me a quick rundown of the reassignment process? Also how are leds assigned to buttons? Thanks and sorry for my newbieness...

Electronics Goldmine is selling the MEC 3F w/ red led at 5 for $1 http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G15660. The bad news is you have to find your own keycaps. I ordered mine from Newark at $0.58 a piece plus a $15 import handling fee. Add on the price for replacement leds in the color of your choice, and it's a pretty good deal.

I was searching for a decent DJ style fader for a while, and the best/cheapest I could come up with was the Bourns PTS series http://www.bourns.com/pdfs/PTS.pdf They feel really nice compared to everything else readily available (sturdy, looser than most standard faders... but not really scratch fader loose). Unfortunately, I could only get the 60mm length in the US from Mouser in single quantities http://www.mouser.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=PTS60-02L-103B2virtualkey65210000virtualkey652-PTS60-02L-103B2 I think Numark is actually using this fader in some of their mixers (since it looks identical to this http://www.numark.com/content35551.html )
