you know after making my first sid i've been wanting to make a rackmount 8core for a while, but after seeing that wilba i think you might have just converted me over... excellent work(again) wilba!

Hey Madox and TK, thanks for your input on this, I will definitely look into both options as we come up to buying, building and finishing this project. madox: I was mainly using the Optocouplers for that reason, which makes the fets perfect (no loading on the signal line!). TK: I had a look at the LTC before, and noticed that part of design, however i didn't look to deeply, so i will have a dig and see what i understand. anyway cheers Chris.

just a question, i've been pondering on for a little while...if we wanted status leds on the outside of the box for the midi ins and outs. how would it be best to do that? i've been thinking about adding another optocoupler on the ins and outs and then a transistor (taking input from the output of the optocoupler) to power the led itself. Is this a workable solution? Cheers Chris.

nestle: With this usb interface you could wire it up to the midi ports of your sid (as you are just replacing the midi cables and connectors with soldered wires) , although i think that its kind of a waste. :P If you wanted you sid to still be able to connect midi also i think (correct me if i'm wrong guys) your only other option would be to get and i2c midi interface to connect you to the core. http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp_iic_midi.html Have a look at that it should help you along. peace

sasha: yeah i know, i just put it together so i could at least start playing with my sid, the dremeling around the screen leaves alot to be desired but i went in gun-ho and paid for it. Its my first project into this line of stuff so excuse the scrappiness, believe me my next one will be better (i have 3 sid chips left) goblins: yeah, i wish i had enopugh... as a kid technics were my favourite lego pieces to play with and because of that i lost alot of them... it would be interesting to see if you could make the led mod matrix with technics

hey guys, well this is my first post on the forum, i've been lurking around for quite some time while i got my sid built. Well i finished it about a month and a half ago so here goes with some pics, currently its a single 8582 with 2x40 screen and case made of lego. I give you the LegoBox:SID, hope you guys like it :P I'm pretty happy with the way its turned out, the buttons at the front (in blue) line up with the screen almost perfectly. Big thanks to Thorsten for making all this possible, Wilba for the sids, SmashTV for the core and sid boards(sorry about the stuff up with the pic too) and Mike for the din and bankstick boards. Enjoy!
