  1. @slubgud, sure sure, here's the Max/Msp program you need running to make the midi Monome compatible http://defcon6.com/shared/midi_monome_v2 Credit for the original program goes to this guy; however, his only dealt with Midi in. I added functionality to convert the out to midi and send it to the controller. http://docs.monome.org/doku.php?id=app:midi_monome I'm simply using the standard MidiIO128 mapping with the button feedback turned off. Every button is mapped to a midi note and the corresponding led is the same midi note (note number 48 up to 111). @slumgud, the buttons are genuine happ push buttons and i purchased from lizardlick: http://www.lizardlick.com/pages/pushbuttons.shtml Note that, you pretty much can only get away with illuminating the white push buttons with a really strong LED. They sell opaque and transparent buttons but they are usually like a dollar more. I drill a small hole at the bottom of the button underneath the actual switch that fits the LED nice and snugly. Thanks all, and @ToS yes, you noticed my attempt to clean wiring! Everything is harness based. So much easier, just takes some time to plan out.
  2. Monome x Arcade Buttons all finished! My goal for this project was to be compatible with existing Monome programs and utilize big, fun to press, arcade buttons. For Monome compatibility I'm using a custom midi->osc converter running in Max/Msp. As long as it's running, any Monome 64h program works with my matrix. Theoretically there are some bandwidth problems using midi but I haven't run into any issues with the programs I've been using. On the midibox front, I got 1 CORE, 2 DINS, and 2 DOUTS.   3. Here are some pictures of my finished Midibox SID V2. Finally got around to finishing everything up this weekend. The panels turned out great (laser cut bamboo) and it's sounding awesome! Thanks for all the help! My next project is a 64 in 64 out matrix, yay.   4. Grrr, this problem is happening to me again. I've been trying to figure it out for the last couple hours with no luck... not sure why it works one day and I get the exception the next. Does anybody have any insight or have experienced similar problems?

  7. Been trying to figure this one out for a while with no luck. I am using a Mac to run the MBSIDV2 Editor. I initially was able to run the program fine and it was awesome! A few days later, I tried to run the program and I get the following exception. I am using a M-Audio 2x2 and I have mmj installed. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at org.midibox.midi.MidiDeviceRouting.disconnectDevices(MidiDeviceRouting.java:176) at org.midibox.midi.MidiDeviceRouting.setInputDevice(MidiDeviceRouting.java:121) at org.midibox.apps.SIDV2librarian.SIDV2librarian.recallConnections(SIDV2librarian.java:74) at org.midibox.apps.SIDV2librarian.SIDV2librarian.<init>(SIDV2librarian.java:47) at org.midibox.apps.SIDV2librarian.SIDV2librarianGUI.main(SIDV2librarianGUI.java:537) I've tried restarting, unplugging the midi, deleting the MBSIDV2 files and re downloading them. No luck... Any ideas?
  8. Just really excited about this one and wanted to thank every one for the amazing amount of information on these forums. After many many problems I finally was able to upload the Midibox SID app and get sound out of my 6582!! The last problem I faced was a non functioning octocoupler that wasn't sending the midi in signal to the core chip. Took me a while to figure that one out but I just got the replacement chips in the mail yesterday, plugged a new one in and everything worked! First time I turned it on I got a horrible noise. Turns out I had my audio out backwards. Fixed that and then turned it on again... the most beautiful synth lead sound I've ever heard. Now on to making my control surface and faceplate, I'll post pictures of my progress so far later tonight!   10. I got this connector about a week ago and it is perfect! The pin layout is a little different from the commodore 64's (just look at the spec to figure out the numbers of each pin) but it is pretty much the exact same size and fits the commodore case perfectly. Highly recommend! I bought the other connector too and it fits the power supply properly. If you are making your own case this one might be better since you could bolt it on easily.
  11. Thanks for the suggestions! I would rather not mess up the PSU since I'd still like it to power a working C64, hehe. I went ahead and ordered the DIN socket and all the optimized PSU parts from Mouser. I'll let you know how that goes!
  12. Hello! I looked all over the forums for an answer to this question and couldn't find one. Appologies if this has already been discussed. ;) I'm looking into buying a commodore 64 power supply but just the power supply and not a C64 system. Thus, I would not have the PSU connector and the power switch panel for the optimized power supply solution. Is there anywhere I can buy a compatible connector? Should I just give in and buy a system? I suppose I could also just wire directly to the power supply without the connector but I would rather have it removable. Thanks a lot and also let me add that these forums have been amazingly helpful in building my Midisid!!
