  1. Yeah, it could go either way! It may also be a case of choosing how many layers to use - one might just give the text a tint and leave it bright while making the background browny/purply, and more might make the background closer to black but the text harder to read.

I'll give it a try and report back anyway. Reporting back may take months though - my current project list is huge and my bank account doesn't yet want to stump up for the PCBs, panel and misc sundries, but if it comes out nicely it'll help other people out on here.

Regarding compatibility, I *thought* I'd checked, but I've gone through so many different tabs and websites that they all blend into each other, and the description doesn't show HD47780 anywhere, so I guess I missed it. The dimensions match and the circuit board looks like the standard type, but I'll have a dig around to check the compatibility.

  2. So I've been looking for the right LCD for my MB6582, and settled on wanting red-on-black. Unfortunately, these seem to be fairly expensive and hard to find in the UK! Had a bit of a brainwave though, could I just get one of these white-on-blue displays, and tint it with some red acetate, or would it not look quite right? I'm wondering if the blue would appear black, or if it'd end up closer to purple - which could look quite funky in itself...

  3. Hi there, I'm struggling to find the right power switch for building the MB6582. The closest I have been able to find so far is the 800-266 from JPR:

That one looks like it'll fit, but it'd look a lot better with something more like this:

(found in this thread - )

The above seems to be the DP version of this switch: http://www.salecom.com/prdshowcase.asp?Source=Products.asp&prdCatalogNo=T80-R&prdClassNo=002

Anyone know of a place I can buy one or two of these?

  4. Basically I saw this quote in the first post and wondered if that signing up process would roll over to this thread... I'm sorry if that wound you up for whatever reason, but hey... no reason to be snappy :)

"If you already signed up in the fleamarket thread you will most likely find your name on the wiki list, nevertheless please check it again."

Obviously I'm going to check the forum when I can... I love the site but I have to limit my internet activity in the name of productivity. Places like this always suck me in with all the amazing projects - easily lost a couple of hours last night when I discovered people had been building Logic Control clones. I have far too many unfinished projects lying around, and I'm on a massive drive to finish them all, spending hours online getting inspired to take on even more new ones is doubly counterproductive. :)

Thread's on watch but anyways... I'm in a good mood and going to get back to clearing the project backlog instead.

  5. Well, you gotta laugh sometimes ;)

Hell, I'm just glad to know I'll be able to get them at some point. Thought they'd been discontinued! The black/transparent with SMD LEDs behind look proper sexy as well.

Anyways... are these two posts enough to get me a notification when the next one runs? I'll add my name to the group buy wiki while it's going, but a nudge when it's going would be handy!

  6. Gah... no way! I've wanted some of these knobs for months, haven't checked the forum in ages, and just logged in today, to find I missed a group buy by about a day

    hahaha, gutted.

Guess it's too late to tack another 15 black/red onto the order. Don't suppose anyone's got any spare at all? ;)

If not, I presume another bulk buy will be run at some point - I'm definitely in for the next one!
